Xbox Live Games With Gold for May

May Games With Gold

Microsoft have revealed the Xbox Live Games With Gold downloads for May. Each month the company releases two free games for Xbox Live Gold members to download for a limited time.

The Xbox 360 and the Xbox One consoles both receive two free games each, but since November the Xbox 360 titles have been backwards compatible with the Xbox One - meaning four free games for Xbox One users.

The games will be yours forever - even if you drop your Xbox Live subscription.

Here are this month's Games For Gold.

Xbox 360 - Grid 2 (May 1 - May 15)

Grid 2 was released in 2013 by racing game specialists Codemasters. The game had a brand-new handling system which aimed to hit the 'sweet spot' between realism and accessibility.

Players can compete across the world in luxurious locations such as Miami, Barcelona, Paris, Dubai and Hong Kong. The aim is to build up the profile of and complete the new World Series Racing Championship.

Racers will complete in a number of race types such as Drift, Time Attack, Eliminator, Checkpoint and Touge. One type, called LiveRoutes , changes the circuit each lap with no map on your screen.

Grid 2 is ideal for fans of motorsport and racing games.

Xbox 360 - Peggle (May 16 - May 31)

This Xbox Live Arcade game is great fun for gamers of all ages. The simple idea behind the game sees players launching balls at 'pegs' in order to erase them from the screen.

Adventure Mode spans 55 levels - with the aim of each one to remove the 25 orange pegs from the screen. Every five levels in the Adventure mode correspond to playing with one of ten "Peggle Masters", cartoon characters that help the player.

Each of the Peggle Masters has a unique special ability that is activated when the player strikes one of the two randomly selected green pegs on the board. Some abilities activate immediately; one ability causes a second ball to be generated from the green peg when struck. Other abilities will have effects that activate on the next shot or for several more shots.

You are guaranteed to become addicted to Peggle as soon as you start playing!

Xbox One - Defense Grid 2 (May 1 - May 31)

This tower defense game was originally released back in 2014 by Hidden Path Entertainment.

Players play this game 'Top-Down' and takes on the role of the commander who must defend bases, colonies, space stations and outposts from waves of evil aliens who are looking to steal power cores.

The aim is to build various towers that will attack and re-route the aliens away from the power cores.

The more aliens you kill, the more resources you receive to build stronger towers!

Xbox One  - Sunset Overdrive (April 16 - May 15)

One of the most exciting and unique games to be released on the Xbox One! Sunset Overdrive takes place in a city full of mutated, hideous creatures - all of which were contaminated by a new energy drink.

Players take the role of an employee from the energy drinks company and must battle there way through the city taking out the mutants using a bunch of electric weaponry and cool parkour moves. Each weapon can be upgraded using 'Amps' and can levelled up when the player earns enough experience points.

Sunset Overdrive is an open-world adventure which will keep you entertained for hours.

Xbox One - Costume Quest 2 (May 16 - June 15)

In this Role-Playing game players must save Halloween and stop the evil Dr Orel White and his monsters.

Players take control of the twins, Wren and Reynold, to take the fight to the enemy. You will need to explore their neighbourhood, collecting candy and various costumes which will turn the children into bigger, real--life versions of the outfit.

Children can turn a werewolf or the Egyptian God Anubis in order to save Halloween.

The free Games for Gold items can be found and downloaded in the Xbox Live Marketplace.
