Warhammer Bulletin: Skaventide

AOS

It’s here…the moment we’ve all been waiting for (especially the Skaven), the Vermindoom! Welcome to another Warhammer Bulletin, and this week it’s obviously what we’ll be taking a look at, the beginning of the launch Age of Sigmar 4th edition with the pre-orders for the Skaventide box going live. So without further ado…

Age of Sigmar - Skaventide

That’s right, the Skaventide box is now available for pre-order, so grab it while you can because boy is it mega (and a great deal to boot). It contains a grand total of 74 brand new miniatures, never before have they hit the tabletop so you can be one of the first to use them. While the Skaven might be the more numerous of the bunch and have some weird contraptions and gnarly creatures amongst their ranks, the Stormcast aren’t to be underestimated, they have some stunning models. My personal favourites are the Prosecutors (it’s the wings), and Lord Terminos, because he has an Emperor’s Champion vibe to him and he’s just so damn cool. Glaring at you menacingly while he decides the best way to kill you.

Of course, it’s not just models, it also contains the new 272 page hardback rulebook for Age of Sigmar, the General’s Handbook in card form, plus the rulebook and everything you need to play the brand new Spearhead game mode. Given how easy Spearhead is to get on the table, this is the thing I’m looking forward to diving into the most.

Now we don’t know all the facts and figures, or how much some of these models are going to eventually cost when released individually, but even using conservative estimates grabbing this box is likely to save you several hundred pounds in the long run. A truly amazing deal, so why not pick up a copy right now!

You’ll be seeing a lot more about Skaventide and the new edition popping up at Zatu over the next weeks and months, I can’t say more just yet, but keep your eyes peeled.

Black Library

Of course, one of the things that makes Warhammer, in all its forms, so great, is the fantastic lore behind it. So it’s fitting that the book ‘Skaventide’ is being released alongside the new edition. It tells the story of the Ruination Chambers joining the fight against the despicable Skaven, and their search for a lost Stormcast brother who carries with them ancient and forbidden knowledge. Will they get their first? Or will the Skaven take the prize for themselves? You’ll have to read it to find out.

This will be available in hardback, eBook and audio. Also if you go directly to Games Workshop you can get it in a special edition with a cover of royal blue and silver, that has art inside and is signed by the author.
