Big news for board game fans—Telford is getting its very own edition of Monopoly! Game makers Winning Moves have announced the launch as part of the 90th-anniversary Monopoly celebrations and are now calling on the public to help decide which landmarks should make the cut.
Why Was Telford Chosen?
Telford has been selected from a shortlist of ten UK locations, beating cities like Gloucester, Sheffield, and Norwich. According to Winning Moves, the town stood out due to its "Sense of Family," "Civic Pride," and "Loved Landmarks."
Which Locations Could Feature?
Voting is already underway, and these iconic Telford spots are proving popular:
The Iron Bridge – A strong contender for the prestigious Mayfair square. This world-famous structure, the first major bridge made from cast iron, is a key piece of the town’s history.
Telford Town Park – One of the top choices for a green space on the board, with other scenic locations also in the running.
Thomas Telford Statue – A well-known meeting spot and tourist attraction, this landmark is getting plenty of support.
