Tabletop Gaming Live Goes Virtual For 2020!

Tabletop feature

Tabletop featureAre you ready for the UK’s next big all-things-tabletop con? September 2020 was due to be Tabletop Gaming Live’s third annual show. Plans were underway for another fun weekend of games, hosted at the marvellous Alexandra Palace in London, UK.

2020, though, had other plans. Coronavirus has affected every facet of every industry, including our own beloved hobby. With deep regret, earlier this year Tabletop Gaming announced they had cancelled their Live weekend.

But chin up, tabletop gamer. Some rays of sunlight have penetrated these dark and gloomy skies. Even a real-life game of Pandemic occurring can’t stop these folks. Despite everything, Tabletop Gaming Live has found a way to open its doors to the public! Well, when we say ‘doors’, we mean ‘windows’. This September, Tabletop Gaming Live is going virtual!

Your Front Room Becomes Alexandra Palace

Virtual Tabletop Gaming Live (VTGL) will take place as an online show, instead of physical stands taking over Ally Pally. Many things will remain. VTGL will take place over two days: Saturday 26th September – Monday 28th September. Instead of the grandiose venue, the entire show is taking place at Tabletop Gaming’s website.

The weekend promises exhibits-galore from all your favourite game designers and publishers. Plus, content creators themselves will be present, putting on a show that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home! Grab a coffee (or a cold one from the fridge), pop your feet up and don’t fret about where you left your mask. This year, Tabletop Gaming Live comes to you!

You can expect to see exclusive videos featuring all the current Hotness. Want to learn some super hobby tips? Seeking fascinating interviews? You got it. Looking to treat yourself (or yourshelf?) with a little something-something? Expect to find discount offers on your favourite games, too. And what con experience wouldn’t be complete without a (virtual) goody bag?

Drop In, Drop Out: Explore At Your Own Pace

Tabletop Gaming say they’re “not asking you to sign up to a number of services”. (But if you want that virtual goody bag, you’ll want to sign up!) They go on to stress that they’re keen to offer a relaxing weekend for people to enjoy the hobby we share in common. There’s going to be a ‘main stage’, along with smaller ‘stages’ occurring elsewhere. You can drop in and out of whatever sessions you like.

Keen to find out about the exciting lineups? You can sign up to the Tabletop Gaming newsletter, where you’ll get all the goss hot off the press. Alternatively, are you a tabletop content creator? Want to get involved? VTGL could be a fantastic platform for you to showcase your skills. Got a prototype in the mixer? Organisers would love to hear from you!

Zatu, What About You?

Zatu are pulling out all of the stops for Tabletop too! We can all expect some fantastic board games, miniature games, card games and collectables at some great prices. On (Table)top of that, there will also be exclusive promo codes and giveaways taking place, alongside some exciting new content, so keep those eyes peeled. Be sure to keep your eyes on Zatu's YouTube page, as a whole host of exclusive videos will be premiering, from playthroughs and how-to-plays to reviews and unboxings. It will be a weekend not to be missed with a prize draw to excite any board game connoisseur.

Has the latter has got your creative juices flowing? Want to join in? Drop Tabletop Gaming editor Christopher a line at [email protected].
