Reaching A Milestone: 250 Blogs!

250 BLOGS

250 blogs! Wowza! Zatu have let me waffle on for going on 3 years now, and (sorry Zebby!) I already have my sights on the big 500! Why? Because gaming is awesome, but writing about it and sharing the joy is even better!

I don’t really need to tell you as you probably already know. But I’ll do it anyway because who doesn’t love to hear good things?! The team at Zatu is brilliant. From Abbie, Arthur and the other epically hard working members of the marketing team, to the warehouse warriors, dedicated reviewers, and the customer service champs, folks come together daily to inform, enlighten, and provide you with as much gaming goodness as possible.

I have been privileged to be a part of the blogging team for quite some time. And with 250 (and counting!) blogs under my belt, I thought I would let you know what it’s like being part of the reviewer/writer crew just in case you would like to join us!

Honestly, it has and continues to be unlike anything else in which I have been or am involved. I learn much, laugh masses, and have made lifelong friends through being a Zatu blogger. I’d like to say my technical gaming skills have levelled up by being surrounded by such talented people, but my BGG stats are still woefully lacking. Nevertheless, I do at least have a whole group of people to seek advice, tips, and suggestions (and be gently mocked by – thanks Pete!) when I really need a win!

Hopefully you already enjoy reading the features and reviews and game information on the Zatu website. But do you know how it all gets there? Well, it takes a virtual village to transform game related ideas into content. And the behind the scenes..er…scene…..is always buzzing.

I only see the blogging side of course, but that is fire hot. Messages fly back and forth daily (even hourly sometimes!) offering features, suggesting ideas, and seeking contributions. Exciting gaming news drops, and members are keen to share it. There’s also a whole bunch of side chats and active on/off topic conversations. There’s even a channel dedicated to bad dad jokes! And there’s always a thrill when the monthly reward voucher raffle is drawn!

And if you like crossing the digital-physical divide, the Zatu team attends gaming cons throughout the year (even hosting their own), and we bloggers can volunteer to help showcase the games we write about as well as teach folks how to play them.

Thankfully, Abbie and the team responsible for keeping us blogging beasties in check, share our energy and enthusiasm. Publishers, designers, mechanics, components, themes, characters….whatever our gaming passions are, we are encouraged to create and share our thoughts and experiences with you.

And I am so grateful for that support and creative freedom. Before I started blogging for Zatu, I had never written anything in open forum before, let alone about board gaming. And I went deep straight out of the gate. One of my first pieces was reflecting on how board gaming helps with anxiety. Putting it out there felt like I was sharing a secret I had held inside for a long time.

Once I had, those inky floodgates opened, and I fell headfirst into the best board game adjacent rabbit hole I could have ever hoped to find.

Now, poor Abbie and everybody else at Zatu can’t shut me up! Haha! 250 blogs and I feel like I am just getting started. My favourite features to write are those that revolve around special days because I get to write about multiple games in one piece. More games equal more fun! And with plenty of national and international celebrations every day, I could write 365 blogs a year and still have more in the tank. (Warning: Abbie – I have 331 more ideas coming your way for the remainder of 2025!)

I’m certainly not the best writer in the world, and I am most definitely not the best gamer. But what I lack in skill I make up for with eagerness. And that’s what makes the blog at Zatu so wonderful. It’s folks from all different backgrounds, with all different viewpoints, coming together to help you find your next favourite game. As readers, you get a variety of opinions and suggestions that you can use to decide if a game is right for you, as well as hopefully some laughs along the way.

I am incredibly thankful to Zatu for the opportunities they give me to flex my creative muscles. And I know I joked at the beginning of this piece about having 500 blogs in my sights. But (and this is just between us!), so long as they let me stay I am planning my 500th piece already!
