A Skitarii Ranger of the Adeptus Mechanicus is a hunter of sentient creatures in the same way that tech-priests are hunters of knowledge — the enemies of the Omnissiah in particular. Skitarii Rangers are the unstoppable cyborgs of the Skitarii Legions that do not rest until the bloody deed is done, for they are driven ever onward by the imperative to locate their foes and ensure their destruction.
An Enhanced Data-Tether is an arcane device utilised by the warriors of the Adeptus Mechanicus’ Skitarii Legions to communicate with their Tech-priest masters. Those honoured with carrying an Enhanced Data-Tether are obeyed without hesitation by their reverent Skitarii comrades; they are seen as the mouthpieces of the Tech-priests, who in turn are prophets of the Machine God Himself.
The Adeptus Mechanicus is the official Imperial name within the Adeptus Terra for the Cult Mechanicus or Cult of the Machine based on Mars which provides the Imperium with its scientists, engineers and technicians.
The tech-adepts of the Mechanicus are the primary keepers of what is viewed as sacred wisdom, a privileged caste of Tech-priests who jealously guard the knowledge required to maintain and construct much of the Imperium’s advanced technology.
