Cats. Sushi. Party Game. What more could a person want?! Tempurra has all of this in a quick and easy game for any group of people. This game follows an eating contest and rather fittingly, Tempurra will have you coming back for seconds and thirds.

Designed by Kuraki Mura, Tempurra is a quick and easy card game. This game focuses on hand management whilst pushing your luck constantly. Now get ready for this jam-packed eating contest in a purr-fect Taiwanese Snackbar!

The Purrpatrator

Tempurra is a push-your-luck game that is filled with all of the kitten goodness. Besides a novel and fun concept, Tempurra is a great game for on the go. Once you’ve learned the rules and got your head around those instructions, this is a great game to pick up and play on any occasion. Compact and bite-sized, learn how to play this paw-sitively great game.

Your goal is to eat as much as possible, to fill your (Puss in) Boots! Over various rounds, pass dishes to other players all whilst digging into your own dishes. The goal is to avoid getting indigestion whilst getting your fellow players to overeat.

Feline Fine

Studying the menu won’t help you in this game. On every turn, you’ll have various options which result in some fantastic strategic gameplay.

Your first option is to draw more cards. You’ll be eating all of the dishes your other players have offered, this could be 5 or 15. Although you’ll be snacking away, you’ll run the risk of drawing one of the indigestion cards. Not only does indigestion ruin any meal, but it will also end the round and grants you one of the dreaded indigestion tokens. Get 3 of these tokens and the game ends, the player with the fewest tokens wins.

Avoid receiving one of these tokens and serve your competitors more dishes. By playing a card from your hand that matches the dish card at the top of the deck, feed your fellow felines. Serving your friends more dishes could result in them finding an indigestion card. However, if they continuing serving dishes, you might be in trouble!

Feeling full? Play an action card and cause havoc in the kitchen. Redirect dishes to the player or send it all back to the chef by scraping the whole stack! If you’d rather take a bite, eat the dish and draw however many cards. The more rounds you play, the more dangerous it gets.

Filled with Purrsonality

Tempurra is the perfect filler game. I played this with a group of friends whilst we were waiting for our food to arrive. We all got quite invested in these fast-paced rounds.

Suited to quick rounds in-between games, Tempurra does wear off quite quickly. Having played this one for 20 minutes, I was happy to move onto the next game.

Once you’ve understood the rulebook and learned the rules, this card game is a breeze. Similar to a huge menu, there is a lot to read before you settle on the best bits.

Being a loud and round cat person, Tempurra’s artwork is one of its biggest draws. Each card has been lovingly designed and features its own unique culinary cat. The indigestion tokens even have a green kitty on both sides – it somewhat lessens the blow of receiving one!

It’s Meow or Never

So, if you like all things cats, cards and cooking, Tempurra is the game for you.

Simple and addictive, this will be a game that I pick up and play in a spare 20 minutes. Kuraki Mura has designed a claw-fully charming card game that is fit for all of the family. Tempurra boasts beautiful artwork and an addictive charm that will keep you coming back for thirds and fourths.

Now, somebody pass me a Rennie!
