Radlands – Deluxe Edition
Radlands is a competitive, duelling card game created by former Magic: The Gathering external developer Daniel Piechnick. The game boasts an elegant, minimalist design with very little text and a short rulebook. This is accompanied by bright, vibrant, and thematic art that lives up to the intense strategic depth that the gameplay brings. If you’re looking for a game with a high depth to complexity ratio, your journey ends with Radlands.
In Radlands, you take on the role of leader in a group of post-apocalyptic survivors. Your goal is to protect your three camps from a vicious rival group.
Players draw from a single deck. You can play your card to the table or discard them for “junk” effects with unique perks. You select your camps – each with its own powerful abilities and quirks. Then, you deploy your people. Just like your camps, each playable character has their own abilities. There are endless ways to combine different cards, meaning no two games ever have to be the same. The developers say that, even after two years of polishing, they are still finding new synergies and strategies to play.
The most important part of Radlands is your resources – your water. In this world, water is scarce. Your enemies want what little you have, and you must do everything in your power to protect it. You use water tokens to play people, use abilities, and activate events. People and abilities will help you keep your camps and your water safe against your enemy’s attacks, while events are slow-burning ways to gain the advantage.
Destroy all of your opponent’s camps, with their water, to declare yourself the alpha tribe and win the game.
With so much to explore, Radlands gives the experience of a huge expandable card game, in a form factor that your gameshelf can actually handle.
