Description
One Pokemon Eeveelutions Terastal Festival ex High Class sv8a Japanese Booster Pack.
Each Booster Pack contains 10 cards.

As the Pokémon Center said, 2025 will be the Year of Eevee with tons of exclusive products to appeal all the fans of this cute little Pokémon and of all its Evolutions. The first product to kick-off the year in style was actually released on the 6th of December 2024 in Japan and it’s a special set packed with stunning cards, high-value pulls, and, of course, Eevee and all its Eeveelutions. We are talking about the Japanese set “Terastal Festival ex” that has been included in the English set “Prismatic Evolutions” recently released in January. Considering how fast the boxes of this set have flown off the shelves, we would like to get a look to the Japanese collection that kicked off the excitement and the year of Eevee.
Right out of the Booster pack – Anatomy of the set
Terastal Festival ex is the eighth Japanese subset released for the Scarlet & Violet Era (sv8a). As the name suggests, this set continues on the recent focus on Tera Pokémon ex, including new cards based on the Eeveelutions. In addition, each Booster pack is guaranteed to have a Pokémon ex card making this set quite interesting for both players and collectors.
In total, the base set includes 187 cards plus 12 Super Rares, 33 Special Art Rares, and 5 Ultra Rares for a total of 237 making this set one of the largest Japanese special set in Pokémon history. Interestingly, only ACE SPEC, Pokémon ex and high rarity cards will have a rarity symbol.
Each booster pack includes 10 cards (one of which is guaranteed to be a Pokémon ex) while each Booster Box will have 10 packs for a total of 100 cards. Booster Boxes are guaranteed to have 9 Double Rares, 1 Special Art Rare, 1 ACE SPEC card, and 3 reverse holos. The standard Pokeball is the most common Reverse Holographic pattern although there is also a possibility to pull cards with the rare Master Ball pattern.
As a “High Class Set”, each Booster Pack of Terastal Festival ex also has a chance of featuring multiple secret rare cards. These packs, usually referred to as “god packs”, are extremely rare as usual but in this set there is also a particularly rare type of god pack that contains all nine Special Illustration Rare of Eevee and its Eeveelutions.
With so many exciting cards in this set, which one would be the most amazing to pull?
Best Cards to pull from Terastal Festival ex

When sets like Terastal Festival ex are released it is always quite difficult to decide which cards are the best one to pull. Collectors will likely go for the high rarity cards while players will try to define which cards may suit better their playing style or be more competitive in the metagame. From a collectible point of view, all the Eeveelutions cards are pretty valuable at the moment in both their ex, and Reverse Holofoil versions. In this last case, the Master Ball Reverse Holo is definitely super valuable considering how difficult is to pull these cards. To give some perspective, Umbreon 092 Master Ball reverse Holo and Umbreon ex Special art Rare were selling around 350 USD recently while other Eeveelutions were ranking between 50 and 100 USD. Personally, I love the artwork of the cards of this set and I feel quite happy I was able to pull a couple of Eeveelutions ex and an Eevee ex for my collection. Unfortunately, no Special Illustration rare card for me so far…
Among the more competitive ones, the card that really deserve a note is the new Plant Pokémon Budew (001/178). Budew is a very simple Pokémon that can be easily overlooked due to its HP of only 30 and an attack that does only 10 damages. However, its attack “Itchy Pollen” prevents the opponent from playing any Item cards from their hand and this has a massive impact on the metagame. In fact, Item cards play a critical role in a number of successful strategies in today format, therefore Budew attack can simply just put the whole opponent strategy in check in just one turn. Most important, Itchy Pollen does not require any energy in order to be used and Budew does not have any retreat cost making it a very interesting card to have in any deck. Luckily, Budew is a common card in the set and easy to pull.
Final thoughts – is this set right for you?
As a big fan of Pokémon, The Trading Card Game I usually get very excited when a new Special set releases and I am always super keen to collect as cards as possible. I am mostly interested in these cards for the beautiful artwork they feature but I am also happy happy to have cards from the set I can actually play casually with my friends.
Unfortunately, every one of these expansions are usually in such high demand that securing these Booster Packs and Booster Boxes can be quite hard. This was a very common problem last year for the English version of Pokémon 151 and it is clearly an issue this years with Prismatic Evolution that went literally sold out a few hours after the shops opened. However, the Japanese version of this sets are sometimes overlooked and can be easier to find and, potentially, a lot cheaper. Most important, The Pokémon Company regularly reprints special sets like this thus the price of the Japanese Terastal Festival ex boxes can fluctuate a lot.
These are some of the reasons I usually recommend to consider purchasing Pokémon sets in Japanese in particular if you are mostly interested in the collectible aspect of these cards. It is true their long term value may be slightly less than the English counterpart but the artwork on the card is exactly the same and sometime the pull rates are much better. Of course, playing with these cards may be a little more tricky due to the language barrier but I personally recommend the Japanese booster Boxes and packs if you are looking for an easy way to boost your collection and to find the beautiful cards. This is particularly true for Special sets like Terastal Festival ex that can please everyone and thus is in very high demand.
