The Suomi (or Finland in English) was a submachine-gun developed during the 1920s 1930s by the Finnish weapons designer Aimo Lachti. The first prototype was built in 1922 and by 1926 Lachti had perfected his creation which was later adapted by the Finnish Army in 1931 under the designation of Suomi-KP Model 1931 or simply KP-31 (KP short for Konepistooli; Finnish for automatic pistol).
