Epic Encounters Local Legends – Green Dragon Encounter Preparation:
Someone has cleared the kitchen, pantry and larder! Guess we are on a diet for this adventure.
Green Dragon Encounter, designed to fit into the Local Legends Tavern Kit and DND 5th Edition compatible. This unit contains a full encounter booklet, three medium sized unpainted miniatures and illustrated battle map. The unit is designed to be a flexible encounter and can be played as a standalone adventure, necessary element along the way, or a side quest in a campaign. The Games Master (GM) will need to have to assess the players levels and pitch the difficulty but reading the full encounter booklet rather than scanned over will give the depth of the scenario and characters to make it a truly Epic Encounter.
Epic Encounters Local Legends – Green Dragon Encounter at play:
Green Dragon Encounter. The game is designed as a drop in encounter for any games master role playing game, primarily for the Local legends Tavern Kit but also for a DND 5th Edition adventure, modification would be needed to any other role-playing system. The players play co-operatively unless you are a sneaky spy, to complete the scenario objective. The scenario is outlined to stop the Green Dragon from their antics, but a band of lost adventurers in the mangrove swamp could save the day or the Green Dragon from the Hunter’s guild, or they might butcher the poor mischievous thing and mount its head above the fireplace and save the hunter’s guild the bother. The GM manages the encounter, so if it is too challenging the scenario can be adjusted e.g. the Green Dragon could be stopped by diplomacy, becoming their pet or the local militia or sheriff posse lend a helping hand, so much choice but so little time.
Booklets, Maps & Miniatures:
Green Dragon Encounter booklet contains, a detailed scenario and background of the Green Dragon and abilities and behaviour in battle or play, as well as the Green Dragon’s perspective on what it needs and what outcomes could be. The booklet provides guidance on difficulty, stats, and background from the Hunter’s Guild and Huntsman’s Stag. The battle map is beautifully illustrated and on decent quality paper but is only one sided and you will need to flatten it out and then rely on the Tavern Kit to provide a leading foreground map for the adventure. The Green Dragon and two mangrove trees miniatures are included and are all unpainted and unprimed but are very nicely detailed. The pieces are standard medium miniatures in size but is more generous compared to the Night Hag encounter.
‘How did you escape from the Black Dragon?’ Said the white Wizard.
‘Well…’ the paladin flushed red in embarrassment, ‘he wanted to meet another dragon’ the young Paladin explained.
‘What! We are not a dating service!’ Replied the confounded white Wizard.
‘Well, what was the alternative, other than being lunch.’ Said the young Paladin.
‘Yes, I guess you make a good point there my lad, maybe be sketchy with the details, I am not sure green & black dragons are compatible’, the white Wizard replied.
‘Seems to work well on witches.’ The young Paladin retorted.
‘What are you on about? I am talking philosophy in alignment, not dress codes or fashion, thank the heavens you didn’t talk of brands of chocolate,’ said the white Wizard rolling his eyes.
‘Oh, yes, um… yes, best be sketchy then. Um… chocolate brands, is that to do with farming then? The young paladin began and then paled in complexion and felt a cold trickle down his back as he noticed the white Wizard’s glare.
Several uncomfortable moments later, the white Wizard looked sorrowfully at the young Paladin.
‘Much you have to learn my young Paladin, let’s find that dragon before the black dragon decides you are taking too long’ said the white Wizard, as they squelched their way into the mangrove’s.
‘HISSSS, PLAY TIME!’ Said the Green Dragon, tripping them both face first into the rancid muddy bog.
Epic encounters have been written to be challenging and it is the duty of the GM to balance the adventure with the player ability and bringing in extra help to tip the balance is allowed as you are in charge right, but balancing is always the best way and letting in extra help or allow aid to come if needed.
