Druids Expansion: Isle of Skye

Description
Isle of Skye: Druids is the second expansion to the popular hit, Isle of Skye. (The first one being Journeyman.) Designed by Andreas Pelikan and Alexander Pfister, this is once again published by Lookout Spiele. The Druids expansion sees players continue to build their own area of the island, with some allies in tow…
The base game is a tile placement game, where each round you’ll receive three square tiles. (They’re shaped like the classic Carcassonne tiles.) You’ll set the prices for them and other players get to buy them off you, if they want. You can then buy any remaining tiles among your own, by paying the set price. You’ll arrange them in ways to meet scoring requirements. There’s a whole bunch of these, which you’ll set up in a modular fashion at the start of each game.
What extras come in this Isle of Skye: Druids expansion, then? For starters, it comes with six extra ways to score points, which further deepens variety. The buy-tiles-off-your-opponents mechanism remains. But the biggest change is there’s a second buying phase to each round, where a whole new board comes into play. This is the Dolmen Board, and on it sit a series of ‘druid’ tiles. (The expansion comes with 36 new Druid tiles.) These have ever-increasing costs, depending where they sit on this ‘conveyor belt’ system.
These tiles provide benefits in the form of stone tablets, or scrolls. The stone tablets provide benefits that you can use all game-long. These include things such as getting discounts off buying other tiles, or getting to score one of your scrolls a second time. The scrolls themselves you’ll be familiar with, if you’ve played base-game Isle of Skye. Take note though: you’ll need a copy of the Isle of Skye base game to play this Druids expansion.
