Description
Everyone knows and adores the Pixar movies. Dobble is the super-popular matching game from Asmodee, and in this version it meets the much-loved Pixar franchise. All of your favourite characters from all of your favourite Pixar movies feature on these cards. Can you match the likes of Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story? What about Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.? And don't forget Nemo and Dory from Finding Nemo! This is an easier variant for younger players, to match the target market of the films. Dobble is the game of quick reactions and matching pairs. In this variant, the pairs are all your favourite characters from the Pixar movies. Dobble is one of Asmodee's more simple games, but also one of its universal, popular ones. Circular cards, with a whole bunch of different images on them. Can you be the first one to locate a pair of images that sit on both your card, and the top card?Dobble sounds like a simple form of 'Snap', but in the heat of the moment, the tension can get the better of you. Not to mention the lightning-quick reactions of the other players! Every card is unique, but each one has an image on it matches one other card in the deck. There are five different variants you can play, but all are about whoever has the quickest eyes. The trick is to locate one image on the top face-up card, with one that matches on your own card. Then it's a case of being quick enough to shout out the name of said image, and slap your hand down! There's fewer images per card compared to regular Dobble, so it's easier for little eyes to digest everything that's going on. Dobble takes 20 seconds to teach, and will have you and your family in fits of giggles. Especially when your hand-eye observation skills fail you! (Oh, and adults? Shouting 'orange fish' doesn't count, you know. That's Nemo! You have to say the character's name!) Player Count: 2-5 PlayersTime: 10 MinutesAge: 4+

My kids and I love Pixar themed movies. The characters and the storylines are truly wonderful with so many positive messages coming through. How can we not enjoy a game of Dobble with Pixar splashed all over it, it’s awesome and here is why.
The rules
Think snap gone mad and you sort of have Dobble in its simplest idea. The set is a deck of circular shaped playing cards. On all the cards are a set of Pixar characters printed on, and all in different sizes. 3 cards are dealt into the middle of the playing area for all to see. Players need to call out a pair of characters they can see on different cards to acquire the pair and score. The player with the most scores wins.
When a score is taken in, replace the scored cards with 2 new cards and go again. Keep playing until the deck is depleted and then count up.
The game is for 2-6 players, taking about 10 minutes to play. Only 6 characters printed on a card compared to the original versions 8 images printed on, it is a touch easier for all, particular children.
It’s Pixar
This very much makes the game for me. A Pixar theme with much loved characters such as Lightning McQueen, Woody, Nemo, Mrs Incredible. What’s not to love?
So when those cards are dealt and you see the kids (and adults) frantically looking for pairs amongst the characters printed, it is high pressure and electric in excitement. It isn’t instantly obvious either, even for me as an adult you do not instantly see a pair and so that adds jeopardy for sure. Who is going to be the first person to call out a pair?
With it being a very fast game that is easy for any player to pick up, so long as they recognise their Pixar characters, you are on to a winner. For younger children also, the game is done before they know it and whilst they may get a touch frustrated if they don’t win, they can have another go straight away. This has made a perfect companion for the family around a dinner table when eating out and keeping the children entertained waiting for our meals to be served (we are not tablet people). It has been a lovely way to socialise and provided a lot of entertainment.
As the paragraphs may have alluded to, Dobble Pixar is highly sociable and interactive. It is impossible not to as someone will have something to say after each score. Or the cries and laughter of each result, it is great.

The limits
Due to its simplicity it does have a limiting game mileage. It is not a game you can play for hours on end but it does have a great use for the right time and place, as noted eating out above. Or away on holiday where baggage allowances are at a premium for space.
The mileage definitely comes with how competitive players are. More competitive people will make this game go further as they won’t be satisfied with not winning, due to its easy to play rules.
The other significant limitation is you have to know Pixar. Calling out character names if you don’t know the character will be a problem for you I’m afraid.
Final Thought
A quick and fun to play game that utilises the loveable Pixar characters. It is a perfect gaming companion in the right circumstances that can be a lot of fun for all involved.
