Description
Commands & Colors Napoleonics is a war game based on the Commands & Colors (C&C) game system designed by Richard Borg.
The system is recognisable for utilising battle dice and a shared deck of command cards. The battle dice enable combat to be resolved efficiently. The command cards form the game engine, driving movement and providing orders for Units. They also serve to create a fog of war effect which add to the realism. Games utilising the C&C system also have a game board that is a hex grid. This grid is divided into three sections: Left flank, Centre, and Right flank.
The Spanish Army is the first expansion to the base game, which focuses on confrontations between Napoleons Forces and those of Great Britain. Showcasing engagements from Rolica in August 1808 to Waterloo in June 1815. A copy of Commands & Colors Napoleonics is required to play with this expansion.
This expansion includes 18 new scenarios highlighting engagements between the allied forces of Spain, Portugal, and Great Britain, and France. Scenarios range from Bailen (July 1808) to Ordal Cross (September 1813).
Also included are:
15 double-sided terrain tiles
2 Player aids. 1 Allied national unit reference card, 1 French national unit reference card
135 Yellow blocks, representing Spanish forces
60 Dark blue blocks, representing additional (to those in the base game) French forces
The Spanish Army expansion introduces a new mechanic, specific to the Spanish Forces: Guerrilla. When taking the Guerrilla action, the Spanish Commander can spend a Guerrilla token to cancel the French commanders command card. A scenario will clearly state when this rule is in effect, and how many tokens the Spanish commander can use during play.
