C&C Napoleonics Epics
Commands & Colors Napoleonics is a war game based on the Commands & Colors (C&C) game system designed by Richard Borg.
The system is recognisable for utilising battle dice and a shared deck of command cards. The battle dice enable combat to be resolved efficiently. The command cards form the game engine, driving movement and providing orders for Units. They also serve to create a fog of war effect which add to the realism. Games utilising the C&C system also have a game board that is a hex grid. This grid is divided into three sections: Left flank, Centre, and Right flank.
Napoleonics overlays this system with game concepts inspired by the era in which it is set. Aside from providing new challenges to veteran players, it adds historical depth to the game. This creates compelling gameplay that succeeds in simulating Napoleonic warfare.
EPIC is the sixth expansion for the Napoleonics, and introduces two game systems to enable large scale battles, with more units. The Epic battles system provides larger battles for two players; but scales up, to support six players – whilst the La Grande Battle system plays best with eight players.
This expansion contains two Battlefield game boards. When placed side-by-side, the boards form a battlefield 11 hexes deep, by 20 hexes wide – facilitating the six Epic battle scenarios included. It also contains 2 Battlefield sheets that combine to create a battlefield 22 hexes deep, by 26 hexes wide -to facilitate La Grande Battle scenarios. Also included are new double-sided terrain tiles, additional counters, battle dice and units for each army.
To get the most from this expansion, it is recommended that players have a copy of the base game, and each of the preceeding five expansions.
