Description

The brand new Shield Captain leads an overwhelming force of Custodians in the Auric Champions battleforce. The Captain comes with two head options and wields a powerful pyrithite spear, while his bodyguard comprises five Wardens, six Allarus Terminators, and six Vertus Praetors mounted on fearsome jetbikes.

This box contains 18 plastic miniatures with a variety of build options, and will also save you money compared to buying the contents separately. It's a fantastic way to start an Adeptus Custodes army, or easily add powerful units and a new leader to an existing collection.

This set includes the following multipart plastic models:

- 1x Shield-Captain

- 6x Allarus Custodians, two of which can alternatively be built as Shield-Captains

- 6x Vertus Praetors, two of which can alternatively be built as Shield-Captains

- 5x Custodian Wardens, one of which can alternatively be built as a Shield-Captain

All models come with their appropriate bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly

What’s included?

The Impressive Shield Captain leads a battle force of Custodians comprised of himself, five wardens, six Allarus Terminators and six Vertus Praetor jet bikers (that’s 18 miniatures in total). There’s room for some customisation also.

The Shield Captain himself has two different heads to choose from.

Two of the Allarus Custodians could be built as Shield Captains.

Two of the Vertus Praetors can also be built as Shield Captains.

One of the Custodian Wardens can be built as a Shield Captain.

Who’s it for?

This selection of miniatures is a great way to start building an Adeptus Custodes army or beef up your existing collection. If you’re after a small, extremely high quality, specialist battle force then this set could be for you. However, if you’re planning on a large battle, not a smaller scale ‘skirmish’, then I would recommend alternative sets. If you’re an experienced painter, you will be delighted with this set. It really will be an awesome way to showcase your efforts. If you’re not quite at that point though, again I would recommend other sets. This set is hardcore. I don’t think it has huge mass appeal, but certainly has huge appeal for a hardcore 40k gamer who is into this kind of thing. I must say though, the theme doesn’t appeal to me personally, but I’d imagine for those considering this set as a purchase may be of a different persuasion. Again, this is just a personal preference, but I tend to prefer large quantities of models (can you tell I’m a bit old school?) and you’d have to take out a bank loan to do this with these kinds of miniatures.

What about quality?

I can’t overstate the quality of the miniatures. The detail is just superb. Sure, you pay for the quality, but considering you could spend hours and hours working on these models, it makes sense to do so on well-designed miniatures that allow you to showcase your attention to detail. The textures on the models are incredible and the plastic is of high quality. The poses are realistic and you appreciate all the intricate details on the equipment and armour. You can tell the designers really know their stuff. Nobody just ‘winged it’ on the sculpts. It’s surely the work of expert drafters and sculptors so hats off to them.
