Poopy McPoopFace – Review

POOPY MCPOOPFACE

I was blown away when I opened the rulebook on Poopy McPoopFace to see that someone finally created a real version of the classic cardgame, S**thead (or at least that is what I knew it as). A game played with a classic deck of cards which I loved playing as a teenager and wasted many hours of my 6th form education. Now we have the game remade in an actual poo theme with that classic rule set, absolutely amazing.

A big turd.

I laugh every time I look at this game box. It’s hilarious! Which is very much the running theme given the game title. The box is in the shape of a big pile of poo. Similar to the poo emoji in look and I just laugh at it. It’s very much holding a central position on display on the game shelves. That and it is so mis shaped you cannot fit it in easily around other sets. So, it will sit very proudly in full view, and if nothing else create a funny talking point.

Laying a brick.

Within the game box the contents are very simple. It’s 48 cards and a small set of rules, which are all toilet lid shaped. Then you get into the content printed on the cards and again, everything links back to poo.

As noted above, this game is S**thead. It’s for 2 to 4 players and the rules are similar to the classic game, adjustments are made for the poo content, as opposed to using your classic hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. Set the game up, by dealing 3 cards face down to each player, then 3 cards face up on top of the cards placed faced down. Then a hand of 3 cards is then dealt to each player.

The objective is simple, get rid of all your cards in hand and then in front of you. Last person to get rid is the Poopy McPoopface.

Play is simple, play a number card and then play passes on. The next player has to play a card equal to or higher than the card last played. Simple.

Then there are your “Specials”. Cards that mix the game up and very much change things in the moment. I’m not going in to this, I don’t want to spoil any of the in-game jokes, but rest assured it’s funny.

The gameplay itself has a high degree of chance with the cards dealt and drawn. You do have the opportunity to create your own luck as well. When you get to know the deck, card counting will come in to play and you will need to be aware of what has been played, what could be hidden still and coming at the end and that all ends up driving a bit of strategy for you, albeit, quite simple strategy.

Sit on the Throne.

It's always good to take in the view of how a game looks as well. I don’t know where I stand here because it is just so funny. It’s all poo! The box container, the shapes of the cards as toilet seats and then the (simple) in game art printed on the cards is poo! And it is absolutely brilliant to my extremely childish mind. I guess it is a very subjective one but I love it.

I also feel this could very well become a family classic in our home. My children are just a bit young for the game at the moment but I do feel they will find it hilarious (probably more than I do) when they do play. The age rating of the game at 6+ probably is in the right place but if your opponents lack a sense of humour, particularly toilet humour, it won’t work for them. No chance of that in our home though.

Final Flush.

For me, there is nothing not to like about Poopy McPoopFace. A quick and simple game with a consistent theme running through that keeps everyone engaged and entertained. For families that like to laugh together this will no doubt be a winner.
