Pokémon Hidden Fates has returned! To those within the community, it is no secret that the original run of Pokémon’s Hidden Fates was one of the most popular series since the game began.
Whether it be the hard-hitting line up of classic and legendary Pokémon or the amazing artwork that is symbolic of this series, there is no doubt that this set is something special. So special in fact, Pokémon have re-released Hidden Fates in their three-tin format.
Any fan of the original 151 Pokémon will know instantly that they are in for a treat! From the moment they place their eyes on these tins, they will be hit with a sense of nostalgia. Raichu, Gyarados and Charizard are in pride of place on each of them.
Having missed Hidden Fates during its initial run, I could not wait to get my hands on a set.
That day has finally arrived!
Pidgeot Jones' Diary
A variant of the classics, Pokémon-GX were first introduced in the Sun & Moon expansion. They share many qualities with the Pokémon-EX which featured in the Black & White and XY series. Both obtain much higher HP and stronger attacks, making them much harder to defeat.
However, Pokemon-GX also have an exclusive mechanic, their all-powerful GX attacks. Although you an only uses these attacks once per game as they are more powerful and hyper-charged. Each trio will contain 1 of 3 foil Pokémon-GX cards.
The options in these tins are Charizard-GX, Gyarados-GX, or Raichu-GX. All fan favourites with a card design that reflects that.
In addition, there are 4 Pokémon TCG: Hidden Fates booster packs included. These packs are adorned with Mew, Mewtwo, Zapdos and Charizard.
On top of all of this, you also get a code card to unlock a playable deck in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online.
The Catcher in the Raichu
I must confess that regardless of the cards that I pulled from this series; I was destined to enjoy the experience.
Upon opening the tin, the first thing you are greeted with is the beautiful GX promo card that comes with it. Each of the tins comes with one of the three, aforementioned Pokémon. Dynamic, bold and well designed it is hard to find a fault with these cards.
As a purchaser of Pokémon cards, this is especially appreciated knowing that they save the crème-de-la-crème of their designs for the cards within the packs.
Never Gonna Let Mew Down
Next, I am on to the four boosters within the tin.
The designs for the booster packs screams ‘Legendary’ to those in the know.
Charizard – the card of legend since the base set.
Mew and Mewtwo -The original and best Legendary Pokémon.
Finally, the three Legendary Birds.
Everything about this set whips up the nostalgia and experience that gave Pokémon its enduring legacy. This set is perfect for me, Mew is my favourite Pokémon, the birds my favourite trio and who, doesn’t love Charizard.
Opening these cards was one of the best experiences I have had opening Pokémon cards. One of the greatest parts of opening a set like this is that you a guaranteed a rare card in every pack. I was fortunate enough to get not only a GX- Legendary Birds card, but also to get that card as a Rainbow card.
Perfect Exeggcution
Any fan of Pokémon should consider in investing in the Hidden Fates tins, especially those who are enamoured with the original series.

The original 151 Pokémon are respected here through every aspect. the artwork sparks nostalgia whilst also introducing classics to new fans. The collectability and quality is a highlight, this cannot be understated.
A powerhouse line up with beautiful and engaging art, this set is for anyone whose ever fallen in love with those pocket monsters.
