The time of Advent is near. At the time of writing this review there is just over three and half weeks until December and the time when kids (and adults) start opening tiny little windows once a day and getting a gift. When I was a kid, this was usually a small piece of chocolate in the shape of a christmas tree, star or Father Christmas. Now, there are Advent Calendars for just about everything, gin, beauty products, fudge, even jigsaws. But one Advent Calendar (or more accurately named Holiday Calendar) in particular caught my eye. With the tag line “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” the Pokemon Holiday Calendar is a sure fire hit for any Pokemon fan. From young kids, to somewhat older kids, if you are fan of the very popular trading card game, video game or TV series then the Pokemon Holiday Calendar is something that you are going to want to check out.
I was a bit ahead of the game and have opened all 25 days of this Holiday Calendar prior to Advent so that I can let you all know what is inside and what to expect.
Final Thoughts
First off, this thing is pretty big. You are getting a decent amount of product for your money. There is some absolutely gorgeous artwork on the front and back that is stunning to look at and will be a joy to see every morning when you go to open your next day’s worth of content.
The Pokemon Advent Calendar contains 25 days of Pokemon surprises and goodies. Inside you will get 8 foil Pokemon cards with a festive snowflake stamp, 5 Pokemon booster packs from various sets, 7 Pokemon three card fun packs, 2 Pokemon coins, 2 Pokemon sticker sheets and one key ring featuring either Pikachu or Glaceon. If my math is correct, that is 79 cards in addition to the other cool stuff.
For anyone that has bought a booster pack previously, the contents of these packs is going to vary. You may get some shiny rare or super rare cards, you may not. So just be prepared for that and temper the expectations, especially for the younger ones. But this is the nature of trading card games in general and is not specific to this product. What I can say for the Calendar I had was that I got some pretty cool cards and was very pleased with my pulls.
What you will find is excitement and enjoyment out of this calendar. Opening the slots each day to see what you receive, with the added excitement of opening a fun pack or booster pack. Not only is it exciting and fun, but you end up with something tangible that you can add to your card collection with. These cards are fully useable in the trading card game. With the added promos and the snowflake iconography you can get some cool looking alternative pokemon cards for your collection.
If you are a Pokemon trading card game player/collector, or know someone that is, then the Pokemon Holiday Calendar 2023 is going to go down very well. From the chance to obtain some cool promos to the excitement of opening booster packs you will love this. Let’s face this, we all get enough chocolate at Christmas, so why get something a little different and indulge in some Pokemon festive fun.
