PlayStation Plus Free Games for October

Sony are getting in the Halloween spirit early this year following their unveiling of the PlayStation Plus free games for the month of October. Much like Microsoft, Sony reward their online users with free games each month - with two appearing on each respective device.

I won't delay you any further with all of the boring stuff, lets's get onto the free games!

Resident Evil - PS4

What could be more suitable for the month of October than a Resident Evil game? This version is a HD remastered version of the 2002 Gamecube classic and has also been selected to help celebrate the series' 20th anniversary.

You remember how scared you used to be playing Resident Evil all those years ago right? Well now the horror is even more clear thanks to the high definition graphics! Top HD features include more detailed environments, non-static 3D models, Bloom filters and widescreen capability.

Just in case you can't remember, the plot to this version of the game takes place back in 1998 - where a series of bizarre murders have taken place in the outskirts of Raccoon City! All is not as it seems and it is up to you to set things right!

Transformers: Devastation - PS4

A cartoon-style Transformers game based on the original TV series, including voice overs! Once again those crazy Decepticons have earth in their sights, but now they also have the power of plasma energy and have destruction on their minds.

Earth's only hope is for Optimus Prime and the other Autobots to come and save the day once again! The battle is on in this highly colourful game which bursts into life with a comic book / cartoon TV series style. Some of the fight scenes look amazing - It's not all about HD realism around here!

Mad Riders - PS3 

Now this is my kind of game! An arcade ATV, off-road racing game with amazing landscapes, tracks and cool tricks. This game is actually quite similar to Motorstorm when it comes to the circuits and type of racing - all that's missing is the cars and bikes!

Players can make gigantic jumps, pull off cool tricks, take sneaky short-cuts and even play as a gorilla.... Yes you read that correctly, you can take a gorilla for a ride on a rocker-powered ATV up and down mountainous race tracks.

As with most games in this genre you will need to pull-off slick tricks in order to gain a boost! Obstacles are located around each of the 45 tracks so you will need to keep an eye out for those.

From Dust - PS3

It's time to become a god as you take on the role of a tribe leader in a dangerous world! You are your people's only chance of survival as they continue to struggle to channel the lost powers of ancient ancestors.

Take control of 'The Breath' and communicate with nature! You will need to guide the tribe to different totems allowing them to perform rituals and to construct villages and settlements - releasing new passages in the process.

This is quite a unique game that is definitely worth giving a try!

Code: Realize - Guardian of Rebirth - PS Vita 

Another top otome game developed exclusively for the PS Vita. Guardian of Rebirth follows the story of Cardia who has poison running through her veins - a single touch from her will cause imminent death!

Due to this intimidating and scary fact, Cardia has spent most of her life isolated from the rest of the world - known to most as a monster! Her quiet solitude is interrupted as the Royal Guards break in to capture her. It is then that Cardia meets Arsène Lupin, a chivalrous thief, who helps her escape the soldiers’ clutches.

She soon finds herself on a journey with Lupin to locate her father, who holds the answers to her mysterious condition. The two are soon joined by four more interesting and handsome gentlemen…

Actual Sunlight - PS Vita

Actual Sunlight is a short interactive story about love, depression and the corporation - this sounds so wonderful right? This indie game challenges you to confront the life of Evan Winter who is described by WZO Games as being: "An overweight, lonely and severely depressed young professional."

This really is a unique game that is presented almost entirely in text - with actual gameplay being limited to moving you from one part of the story to the next. Please be warned this game is quite dark and the content does contain severe depression and thoughts of suicide.

You may need to take a long deep breath before you decide to play this game - oh and only do so if you are 18  or over!
