Pandemic Legacy Season Zero Preview

There is no release date for this yet, or indeed much information at all. But I already know that I will buy it on release day, play it instantly and undoubtedly love it!

Most people have heard of Pandemic. It is one of the biggest games in the industry having been many peoples gateway game (indulging myself). It is widely regarded as being one of the first good co-op games, revolutionising this style of game. Since its release in 2008, Pandemic has sold thousands of copies and won countless awards. It has spawned multiple expansions and spin offs including the recent Pandemic: Hot Zone – North America which offers a lighter and quicker game. But the most popular and highest rated version has to be Pandemic Legacy: Season 1, which took the franchise to a whole new level back in 2015.

Pandemic is good. Legacy is great. It is a top five game for many people including myself, and has given my gaming group huge moments of joy and discovery. I don’t want to say too much about this game as it will spoil it for you. But basically, it’s like Pandemic, for about five minutes, before all sorts of other things happen! The story will grip you into the game in ways many others simply cannot do. The events that occur are full of twist and turns, there are surprises in gameplay that will delight, and when it is all over, you will feel something you have never felt before in games. But as I say, I don’t want to say too much!

Season 2 came out to similar high plaudits in 2017 leading many to ask when season 3 would be out. We were promised a trilogy. Recently Z-Man games surprised us all by announcing Season Zero. The end of the trilogy, or a prequal to this one?

For new players to the legacy games, this is a perfect introduction to these wonderful experiences. For people who have played seasons 1 and 2, I am sure it will be a delight to re-enter this absorbing world. Zero has been rumoured to be set in a Cold War era with a spy theme. But whatever the game is, I can trust from my experiences with the legacy games so far, that this is quite simply a must have!
