Once again Nintendo brought the goods with another outstanding Direct. Here’s what you missed.
Things started strong with the announcement of Fire Emblem Engage. The next main game in Nintendo’s strategy series is set 1000 years after the war against the Fell Dragon. You’ll be able to fight alongside heroes such as Marth and Celica. It arrives on 20th January 2023.
Top co-op game It Takes Two hits the Switch on 4th November 2022.
Project Zero/Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse came out on the Wii in 2008 and now, for the first time, will launch outside of Japan in “early 2023”.
There’s a bunch of new content for Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s Expansion Pass on October 14th. Volume 2 will let you add the new hero Ino to your party, and *eye roll* dress up in beachwear.
Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star launches in March 2023. We also got a look at party game Oddballers, which is coming early 2023.
The delightful Tunic will arrive for Switch on 27th September 2022.
Remakes of Front Mission 1-3 were also shown, but sadly without release dates.
The GameCube Harvest Moon classic A Wonderful Life will return on Switch as Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life in “summer 2023”.
Splatoon 3’s first post-launch Splatfest will ask you what you’d use to survive on a desert island. You can answer that question on September 24th.
Octopath Traveller 2 arrives on 24th February 2023 and will no doubt be awesome.
Fae Farm (yeah, another farming sim) launches on the Switch in spring 2023.
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm was also confirmed just in time for the franchise’s 35th anniversary and will arrive on 16th February 2023.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope arrives on 20th October 2022.
Rune Factory 3 Special will launch on Switch sometime next year.
Next up from Nintendo Direct, GoldenEye 007 will launch on the Switch’s Online + Expansion Pack subscription. And it’ll come with online multiplayer! Other N64 games headed to Nintendo’s subscription include Pilotwings 64 and Pokémon Stadium.
For Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, another free update is coming this month. It will bring Diddy Kong, more gear, another stadium, skill point based ranking and other stuff that should’ve been available at launch.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key arrives 24th February 2023.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s third bunch of DLC will arrive before the year is out. It’ll have eight more tracks, including Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS.
Nintendo Switch Sports received... a delay to it’s Golf update. It can’t all be good news I suppose.
Nintendo gave us an official teaser for Pikmin 4! It’s arriving at some point in 2023. Hopefully we get a more concrete release date soon as I can’t wait for this one.
Just Dance 2023 hits the scene on 22nd November 2022.
4th November 2022 will see the release of yet another farming sim - Harvestella. There’s a demo you can get stuck into, which is available now.
Nintendo then showed off some new gameplay for Bayonetta 3. It arrives on 28th October 2022.
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is coming “spring 2023”.
Various Resident Evil games are set to arrive on Switch via cloud versions. Village arrives on 28th October 2023. Cloud versions of Resident 7, 2, and 3 will be here before 2022’s end.
Sifu will launch for Switch on 8th November 2022.
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy 7 - Reunion is coming on 13th December 2022.
Classic role-playing game Tales of Symphonia is getting a remastered and arrives for Switch early 2023.
Nintendo then banged out a bunch of titles in quick succession. Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection arrives on 27th September 2022. Romancing SaGa - Minstrel Song - Remastered will be with us on 1st December 2022. Lego Bricktales is coming “autumn 2022”. And Fall Guys Season 2 begins 15th September 2022.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, a remake of the Wii original, will launch on 24th February 2023. It’ll include local multiplayer support and new mini-games.
And to round things off Nintendo went big by finally confirming Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s (Breath of the Wild II) release date: 12th May 2023!
