It was the mid 90s. Me and my best friend were sat in the back seat of a car driving down country. We weren’t paying attention to the journey, we were fully immersed in the glorious 8 bit wonder of ‘Tintin in Tibet’ on the Game Boy, taking it in turns to jump over barrels and other platforming perils. Those were the days!
Now, nearly 30 years later, Tintin is coming back to consoles and we are ready for it!
Tintinimaginatio and game developer Microids have just revealed the first trailer for the upcoming video game release of Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharoah coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2023.
Based on the classic adventure story, “The Adventures of Tintin: The Cigars of the Pharoah” this will mark the first time the famous boy reporter has been the subject of a video game in over a decade (2011 saw the release of the video game tie-in to Steven Spielberg’s Tintin movie).
This looks like a true return to the early Tintin video games, which leaned heavily into the source material! Whilst cruising the Mediterranean, Tintin and his faithful hound Snowy set out in search of the tomb of Pharoah Kih-Oskh. And anyone who is familiar with the ‘Adventures of Tintin’ will know that nothing ever goes smoothly for the poor lad.
Microids have promised twists and turns and an immersive experience for Tintin fans. Scenes from the trailer tease plane flights, car chases, investigation work and good old fashioned temple explorations.
It’s safe to say we will be keeping an eye on this one as more details are revealed!
