It’s official, the Blue Blur is coming back in 2024.
That may not sound like much of an announcement; after all, Sega have been periodically releasing Sonic the Hedgehog games for years. However, far from this being a return to our screens, Sonic and Co. are now entering the world of tabletop gaming!
SONIC ROLL is a brand new semi-co op game from Kess Entertainment. Kess have been on a roll (pun kind of intended) lately with their board game adaptations of popular franchises, so we will be interested to see how they handle Sega’s beloved mascot.
We don’t know much about this release yet, except that it promises to be fast paced; definitely a prerequisite for a Sonic the Hedgehog game. Faithfully capturing the 16-bit classic Sega look, Sonic Roll seems to incorporate dice placement and push your luck aspects for up to 4 players with some campaign options included.
There will be 4 classic Sonic zones to traverse as players collect rings, power-ups and Chaos Emeralds. Of course, we expect the inclusion of Dr. Eggman to provide more than a little obstacle on your path to success.
Slated for an early 2024 release, Sonic Roll looks to be one for fans of classic and modern video gaming alike!
