Silent Hill has been, well, silent since the PT demo came into our lives and then was unceremoniously taken away. But Konami, the undisputed king of Pachinko, has finally decided to do something with the beloved franchise. All of which was showcased in Silent Hill Transmission. Here’s what you missed:
First up, the much rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake was finally confirmed. It’s being made by Bloober Team (the studio responsible for Layers of Fear and The Medium). We didn’t get a release date but it will be coming to PC and PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive. Meaning Xbox owners will have to wait.
Next up was Silent Hill Townfall. It’s being developed by No Code (Stories Untold and Observation) and Annapurna Interactive. The minute long trailer gave absolutely nothing away, so this one remains and mystery, but certainly one to look out for.
Remember the SH movies that got went rapidly downhill? Well there’s another one on the way! “Return to SH” will see director of the first film - Christophe Gans - return to the franchise. Gans is one of the few directors not to kill off Sean Bean, so here’s hoping we see more of this radical thinking in the new film.
Silent Hill Ascension was up next. Described as a “live, real-time interactive series”, players will watch together and change the outcome of each story. Genvid, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Games, Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour and DJ2 Entertainment are all involved in this one.
Finally, the show wrapped up with a teaser for Silent Hill f. Another new game, this time set in 1960s Japan. It’s written by Japanese visual novelist Ryūkishi07. How will Japan link to Silent Hill? We’ll have to wait to find out!
And there you have it. After complete radio silence on the franchise, Konami are working on a whole bunch of stuff! But is it too much or too little too late. Let us know on Zatu social media!
