NEWS: Scythe Sequel Announced

In the second piece of Stonemaier news of the day, a video was released on their YouTube channel. In it, we hear a voice talking about never forgetting when the sky fell. As the artwork is slowly revealed, I realised what was happening. A brand-new game in the Scythe world was being announced. Expeditions is the official sequel to the modern classic game, taking players into a new world in the alternative past. Our heroes will head towards the Tunguska River where a meteorite crashed, awakening an ancient corruption. Hoping to explore and learn more about the disturbances, forgotten artifacts and overcome challenges, Doctor Tarkovsky will lead the adventurers through this new experience.

Taken from the newsletter announcement that followed the YouTube video, Jamey Stegmaier says “Expeditions is a competitive, card-driven, engine-building game of exploration. It is designed to evoke similar feelings to Scythe even though the mechanisms are different: Play cards to gain power, guile, and unique worker abilities; move your mech to mysterious locations and gain cards found among the tiles; use items, meteorites, and quests to enhance your mech; and spend power and guile to vanquish corruption.”

The pre-order is available over on Stonemaier’s website, but it’ll be coming to Zatu when it releases fully in the summer this year.
