News: Pokémon Legends: Z-A announced

POKEMON LEENDS A-Z
POKEMON LEENDS A-Z

If you’re a fan of Zygarde or Mega Evolution, hold onto your Master Balls: a new Pokémon Legends game has been announced!

Pokémon Legends: Z-A, to be released worldwide in 2025, will see players returning to the French-inspired Kalos region of Pokémon X and Y. Not much is known about the game yet, other than it seems to involve an urban redevelopment plan of Lumiose City. As one of, if not the biggest cities in the whole of the Pokémon world, this is sure to be one monumental undertaking.

If the rainbow symbol at the end of the trailer is anything to go by, it also seems that one of the series’ most beloved gimmicks will make a return. Whether you loved or hated Mega Evolutions, the concept of having a variety of Pokémon transform temporarily into stronger forms with alternative designs is a fantastic way to revitalise the series without deviating too much from the core mechanics. It will be interesting to see how the developers choose to utilise Mega Evolutions in this reimagining of the Kalos region, and what a new, potentially futuristic Legends game will look like.

Perhaps most excitingly, the game’s name, Z-A, suggests that we could be learning more about an old, mysterious character from X and Y: AZ. After 15 years, long-time fans could be finally getting answers they have been craving about the immortal king of Kalos and his beloved Floette.

After the success of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which saw players travelling to early Hisui/Sinnoh and learning about how the region—and its legends—came to be, it’s no wonder Game Freak and the Pokémon Company are keen to keep diving back into beloved regions.

I, for one, would love to see a return to Johto. Which region would you like to see featured as part of the Legends series in the future? Tell us on our Zatu socials!

Keep checking back with us at Zatu Games for more details as they become available. In the meantime, keep training your beloved companions and get ready to explore new and familiar lands in the wonderful world of Pokémon.
