With the celebrations for the 25th anniversary undergoing, Konami is looking to support anyone interested in getting into Yu-Gi-Oh! with the release of a new 2-player-set specifically designed to help new players to familiarize with the game complex mechanics. In particular, the new set will be designed to help players to familiarize with Yu-Gi-Oh! wide range of summoning mechanics and combos that can create a bit of confusion at first glance.
What makes this new set different from other starter decks? First, while Konami releases multiple starter or structure decks every year, this is the first 2-player deck to be released since 2015. The last one was the 2-Player Starter Deck featuring Yuya & Declan and it included two half decks that could be combined into a full deck. The newer set will instead feature two full 40 cards decks and this will help new players to have a game experience closer to the reality of a Yu-Gi-Oh! Match.
The new set will also include two extra decks of 4 cards each focused on XyZ and Synchro monster summoning.
The other main feature of this set is a 64 pages step-by-step new player tutorial guide. Formatted like a comic book, this tool will guide the players through a scripted game using the decks provided in the set. This step-by -step tutorial will likely resemble the tutorials games in the Master Duel Yu-Gi-Oh! App but it will be played with the actual deck provided in the set. Players will therefore be able to shuffle the decks after completing the tutorial and try to put in practice right away the learning from the guide. The guide and the decks should therefore provide a smoother learning curve into the game and players can learn and practice while playing with actual decks.
Overall and considering the very affordable price, the newer 2-player deck looks a great product to have or to gift to anyone considering to start playing Yu-Gi-Oh! As the set is planned to release at the end of October, it may also make a nice Christmas present to have a lot of fun during the holidays.
