Kill Team: Operation Hivestorm NEWS

Kill Team

A brand new edition of Warhammer 40k’s Kill Team game is flying towards us at high speeds…wait…are those…Vespids and Tempestus Aquilons? That’s right, in an epic new trailer - we got to see two sets of models which we’ve all wanted to see return for a long, long time!

Granted, Vespids were still, around, ish, but the models desperately needed a refresh, and boy did they get it. Their whole look is much more defined and insect-like now, and they’ve clearly impressed their Tau rulers cough I mean allies, who have given them some new weaponry…but still sent in an oversight drone to keep an eye on them. We’re going to be keeping an eye out for more about them as the release gets closer.

As we will the Tempestus Aquilons. I can’t actually figure out when we last had Tempestus Aquilon models, I feel like I’ve seen some but they were very blocky. Needless to say these look much better and you just can’t beat the cool factor of a jump pack. They’ll be dropping in from above and reigning down the Emperor’s fury with their hot-shot lascarbines. Did I mention they also have a mobile turret? No? Well they do!

But how far do things shoot I hear you ask? And move! Well in the previous edition the creators took a gamble, they replaced the classics inches with shapes. This was a bold move and honestly I can see what they were going for. After a game or two you kind of forgot about it and just got on with things, but they never really gelled with the community as a whole. That’s why everyone is going to be happy that we are returning to good old inches in this edition, huzzah!

So where is this all based? Well that would be Hive Fissilicus on the world of Volkus. Volkus is in the Imperium Nihilus, a manufacturing centre that produces all sorts of weapons of war. But no weapon even comes close to the majesty and firepower of the Massif Ballistus. This colossal twin-cannon is so big its barrels reach into the stratosphere of the planet and it can take out entire Chaos fleets with one shot. The

Hive city around it is entirely devoted to the maintenance and firing of this great weapon, providing whatever is needed, from labour to ammunition.

If there is a better place for Kill Team to take place, I can’t think of it. I can’t wait to see more and play it!
