In this week's news round-up; James Bond is heading to a tabletop near you, Big Potato Games head to the pub, and tickets for next year's UKGE are now on sale!
The name's Bond…… James Bond
Forget your poker and your blackjack, a new James Bond card game is here with to shake (not stir) things up! Announced this week from Upper Deck, creators and publishers of the Legendary Deck-Building games, comes a 007-themed deck-building game, where “players will be able to relive their favourite movie moments while working together to recruit their favourite characters and unravel the nefarious schemes of the most infamous 007 villains”.
Unfortunately, that is all the information we have at the moment but this is sure to be hit! We can expect to see this Legendary game released in Q3 2019
Not your usual crisps!
Big Potato Games, famous for the much loved party game, Obama Llama, have tried something a little different recently! In a London-based board game bar, aptly named The Loading Bar, you will find a board game vending machine! Yes, you heard me correctly, Big Potato Games have created a vending machine for board game addicts such as myself to get our regular fix with ease!
People will have the chance to try the games out from the extensive board game library at the bar. If they enjoy it and want to purchase it, they can simply use the vending machine. Best of all, you have a one in three chance of winning a Big Potato Plushie with your game as well! What’s not to love!
You’re a wizard, Munchkin!
USAopoly have just announced a collaboration with Steve Jackson Games which will see a Harry Potter themed Munchkin game heading to our tabletops very soon! The game, which will be reminiscent of the original Munchkin game, will see players selecting a house, either Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin and then dungeon crawling their way through 10 levels, collecting items and abilities along their way.
This game is definitely going to appeal to those Harry Potter fans out there and will give an interesting twist on the fantastic original game.
Expos Galore!!
As many of you will know, the Tabletop Gaming Live show will be returning in 2019 and tickets have just gone on sale, with early bird prices available. Not much information has been released as of yet, but after the success of this year's show, I am sure next year will be even better!
Also, tickets for the highly acclaimed UK Games Expo will also be going on sale this Saturday (December 1)! The Expo will be returning in 2019, from May 31 to June 2, and it is sure to be another excellent event, with the likes of Catan Studios and Games Workshop heading up the sponsors of the Expo. Be sure to pop by the Zatu stand when you go next year!
Land, Sea and Air! What absolute Madness!
Of course, how could I finish without mentioning the release of the latest Mansions of Madness expansion, Horrific Journeys! As mentioned in my preview, this expansion tries to really mix things up, transporting players aboard a train, an airship and a boat, with different investigations for you to sink your teeth in to! They are also bringing in a brand new traitor-style mechanic which is sure to have players on their guard throughout the game.
I am really looking forward to getting this to the table so be sure to check out my review very soon.
