Avalon Hill dropped some exciting news last week in a new set for HeroQuest is coming in the form of HeroQuest First Light. A set designed for players intimidated a little by the current core offering and/or new to HeroQuest.
It is no secret that HeroQuest is quite an expensive game and if you add on some expansions to the core set, your wallet is getting severely dented. That can always prove to be a little off putting, even for the biggest gamers out there. First Light is designed as its own standalone game to give players an affordable introduction to HeroQuest, without spending nearly so heavily.
The creators have noted that if you do enjoy playing this set, it is fully compatible with all the other content created. This is a massive bonus if you enjoy the game and want to keep on questing. They’ve also highlighted there are new quests contained within the set and it is fully kitted out as a standalone game.
I loved playing HeroQuest as a child, but my set went astray at some point in time. I’ve been sat on the fence about picking it up again, mainly due to the large price tag associated with the core set. This does feel like a good way to re enter this dungeon realm. It is a classic good vs evil board game that had plenty of thrills along the way. If it brings new players to journey in to this fantasy realm then that is a huge win.
Avalon Hill note they will be demonstrating First Light at GenCon later this year. Players will get the chance to view the product and play test the set. For me, this is incredibly exciting news and I cannot wait to hear more information.
