The hit card drafting game, 7 Wonders, has a new expansion announced. Known as 7 Wonders Edifice, this expansion brings in a new element for experienced players to get their head around, whilst being approachable for newer gamers. Where the base game, now in its Second Edition, is completely competitive, the Edifice expansion introduces communal buildings that players will have to work together to complete. When a player constructs part of their wonder, they can choose to aid in the edifice’s construction, paying additional resources and gaining an instant benefit if they do.
Should players refuse to contribute to the edifice, and the project fails, consequences will rain upon them. As part of the design, only three edifice cards will appear in each age and exactly one fewer than the number of players can contribute to each one. Rewards and penalties will vary on the edifice card and on the age you are in, so it pays to help out when you can.
With 15 edifice cards to mix in each game, keep an eye out for something new to throw into your classic drafting game when 7 Wonders Edifice releases late in February this year.
