A new Expansion for Through the Ages – Leaders and Wonders

New Leaders and Wonders - Through the Ages Expansion

Through the Ages is getting its first expansion. New Leaders and Wonders comes five years after its makeover and refit as A New Story of Civilisation. As you may know, the game sensibly allows you to develop beer to increase your civilisation's happiness and culture. The new expansion is coming in both printed and electronic form.

New Leaders and Wonders

It doesn't look like New Leaders and Wonders will re-invent the wheel, because that's YOUR job in the game! However, Leaders and Wonders (Vlaada Chvátil) promised to add a number of new challenges and achievements. Perhaps, to develop more variety of beer? Just a thought! You'll also have more leaders for election, wonders to erect, and military units for dealing with insurrection.

The full array of additions may not have been announced, however they have been cheekily teased in the promotional video. The following now appear as leaders.

  • Antoni Gaudi.
  • Sun Tzu.
  • Alfred Noble.
  • Steve Jobs.
  • Marie Curie Sklodowska.

Their benefits have not yet been revealed by Czech Games Edition. Alongside the new leaders, there are also new wonders to enjoy.

  • Stonehenge.
  • The Forbidden City.
  • The Statue of Liberty.

Hussars, Hybrid War and Kidnapping also appear as military developments. Other developments include Naval Treaty and Autonomous Cities. If the first game was a thorough simulation of creating a civilisation from the ground up, this expansion promises to set it on an epoch above.

Coming Soon

The release of the app is planned for September 12, available through all the usual outlets. However, analogue players will have to wait just over a month longer. October 24 is the current release date for the printed version.

By way of consolation, Europe will receive it before the US, where it will be released at the beginning of November. Recommended retail price has been set at $24.95. Keep an eye on the Zatu store in the coming weeks.
