WHO IS MICHAEL KIESLING?

Michael Kiesling is a German board game designer from Bremen. Many of his board games have been co-designed alongside Wolfgang Kramer. Back in the day, Kramer and Michael Kiesling worked on games together by telephone and fax correspondence despite never having met.

Both Tikal and Torres (co-designed by the duo) are winners of the Spiel des Jahres Award - in 1999 and 2000. Tikal also won the Deutcher Spiele Preis Award in 1999. Kiesling has also won the award with Azul (2018), a game he designed on his own.

Alongside his board game activity, Kielsing is also a manager of a software company in Bremen.

DID YOU KNOW?

Three of Michael Kiesling's board games have won the prestigious Spiel des Jahres Awards. He won back-to-back awards between 1999 and 2000, with Tikal and Torres scooping those awards. His last Spiel des Jahres was in 2018, for the abstract tile-laying game, Azul. Kiesling has also won the Deutcher Spiele Preis and the Multi-player Category within the International Gamers Awards.
