Horizon Zero Dawn was a huge success on the PS4. Following the adventures of Aloy as she travels a world overrun by machines. With only a spear, bow and arrow and stealth can she survive and uncover her past? Exploration, tech trees and unlocks in abundance Horizon Zero Dawn had all the trappings of an excellent adventure RPG.
With the announcement of the PS5 it is welcome sight to see a second instalment announced. Horizon Forbidden West is a PS5 exclusive and continues with the story of Aloy as she travels west to America's wild frontier. Majestic and dangerous all at the same time the new landscape features everything from sand dunes, to vibrant and abundant forests to snow capped mountains that are just begging to be climbed.
From what has been revealed so far Aloy can now explore underwater, thanks to her advanced tech scuba gear, to discover new sunken cities. Mechanical alligators are of course a thing, which quite frankly look amazing and terrifying at the same time.
Some of the trailers released so far show what appears to be an unknown tribe with mechanical woolly mammoths in tow. Are these a hostile tribe or friendly tribe has yet to be determined.
What the main story line is about is yet to be revealed but if the previous Horizon Zero Dawn is anything to go on then this is surely going to be another blockbuster hit for Sony. The visuals looks amazing on the new console.
I was a huge fan of the original having played it from beginning to end. I loved the exploration, the mechanical representation of real life animals and the satisfaction of taking down a huge mechanical beast armed with nothing but a bow and arrow and a spear. I am confident that Sony and Guerrilla Games would have improved on the original game and I for one can't wait to dive in to this new world. This is the one game that is seriously tempting to me to purchase a PS5
