More than 15 fire crews are currently in attendance at Warner Bros Studios, in Leavesden, tackling a fire that erupted around 11.30pm last night. All eight Harry Potter movies were filmed at this location.
Other popular movie franchises filmed there include James Bond and The Fast and the Furious. The studio is also the location for the incredibly popular Harry Potter studio tour, but these are said to be unaffected by the blaze.
The Latest
Warner Bros have yet to make any comment. However, local authorities have reported that fire and rescue services are still working to tackle the fire. Fortunately, at this stage there are no reported injuries.
The set was not being used at the time of the fire being reported. However, it's believed that HBO's Avenue 5 is currently being filmed in these studios. This is a sci-fi comedy series by Armando Iannucci.
This is not the first time a fire has broken out at Warner Bros Studios. Also, last month it was reported that a film crew worker was assaulted there. At the time, he was filming for The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway.
At present, whilst those reporting on the matter are unable to get closer to the scene due to the ongoing fire, it has been said that the studio seems as though it is going about it’s day-to-day business as normal.
A local resident told the BBC:
"The smoke went high into the air, and as I watched, the smoke appeared to get thicker, so much so that we could see the flashing lights of the fire engines reflecting off the thick smoke. It was still going strong at about 1am and when I woke up this morning it was still smouldering."
Harry Potter Fans
Although the fire is on-going, it appears that no Harry Potter items/areas are affected. This will be a huge relief to fans of the franchise, who flock in their thousands to go on the studio tour. We're also pleased as we love Harry Potter here at Zatu.
