Gran Turismo Sport unveiled

Gran Turismo Sport has officially been unveiled and now has a launch date for the PlayStation 4.

The first trailer was unleashed during a special event held by PlayStation at the Olympic Stadium in London last Friday. People in attendance were able to play the highly anticipated game for the very first time.

Since the launch event, a second trailer has been released which shows so actual gameplay footage of Gran Turismo Sport - which looks absolutely stunning thanks to the PS4's processing power.

Gran Turismo Sport Main Details

So why is the latest installment in the long-running PlayStation series called Sport instead of Gran Turismo 7? Well that is because of the participation of the FIA - the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile - within the game's Sport Mode.

The FIA are the governing body of motor racing and have supported and backed the championships used within the game. This includes the Nations Cup, which is a World Cup for cars and pits country against country. Regional finals will take place, leading up to a final where the winner will receive a great prize.

The prize in question is an invitation to the FIA end-of-season gala - where the winner will pick up their trophy alongside the champions from F1, the World Rally Championship and the World Endurance Championship.

This mode is a real beast when it comes to online gaming. It has been designed as a fully-functioning motorsport calendar with official FIA events taking place. Compete in race meeting and beat daily challenges as you race through the year.

If you prove yourself you could end up with the FIA Gran Turismo Digital License - which is recognised by 25 motorsport clubs from around the world.

Other Details

Alongside this unique feature, Gran Turismo Sport will feature 137 different cars  - made up of real cars and stunning concepts. More cars will become available via the PlayStation Network over-time. So far six tracks have been confirmed for the game including the Northern Isle Speedway, Brands Hatch, Willow Springs and the challenging Nurburgring.

At long-last Gran Turismo fans will also be able to edit the look of their cars with the livery editor - something Forza Motorsport players have had for a long-time.

Another new inclusion is the Scrapes Mode. This allows gamers to drop incredibly detailed renders of supercars into pre-existing photographs, before sharing them online for all your friends to see.

Gran Turismo Sport is also going to be compatible with the PlayStation VR Headset from launch - now how exciting does that sound!?

Release Date

Gran Turismo Sport will be released in the UK on Friday, November 18. A Steelbook and Collector's Edition of the game have been announced, although prices are not yet known for the UK.

The Steelbook Edition will include digital extras including:
