Getting back into LEGO at age 27!

Admiring the chunky, soothing, simple blocks in the LEGO Duplo part of Legoland brought me back to the last time I loved LEGO- the early 2000s. But seeing botanical succulents, orchid and animal crossing sets recently drew me back into the colourful, creative realm of Lego.

Before the visit to Legoland, I already loved the look of animal crossing Lego, recreating a favourite childhood Nintendo DS game that I still play today, on the slightly larger and much less pixelated screen of the Nintendo switch lite (with cherry button covers to match the fruit on my island, of course). Some of my lovely friends got me the Julian’s Birthday Party set, featuring spring cherry blossom trees, cupcakes- in lilac cases with chocolate piping icing-, birthday cake, a party hat with the villager figure and even a birthday parcel topped with a bow that fits surprise microphone, stars and bells inside. These can be set on included ‘grass’ bases, which can be connected with other animal crossing sets to expand into an entire Lego island! Naturally, I kept on the Nintendo bandwagon and sought out the Yoshis’ egg-cellent forest set, technically an expansion but cute on its own, featuring yellow and pink yoshis treasuring a yoshi egg and of course their primary snack for crunching on: red apples.

On arrival to Legoland, the food outlets and the immersive Heartlake City inspired me to add the following LEGO Friends set to my Zatu wish list: the Friends Mobile Bakery Food Cart- coffee and croissants! what more could I want! Plus, connecting there with my inner child and my love of Disney Lorcana put the Lego Disney Princess Twirling Rapunzel on my Zatu wish list too. A beautiful purple, 360 rotating beauty that introduced me to LILAC LEGO!

I was then lucky enough to receive 2 more Lego products for my birthday, from my cousin, the classic creative pastel fun set: adding even more mystical lilac Lego, plus other pretty pastels with instructions for making pastel yellow cats, turquoise dinosaurs and many more, endless possibilities with 333 pieces. As well, lastly, as another adorable Disney set: Simba the lion king cub, featuring the distinctive sunshine yellow furry friend with even those famous Disney fairytale eyes included.
