Halloween is a great time to get a bunch of friends around and play some games. We usually go for horror themed games and here are five of our favourites to play this Halloween.
Dead of Winter
This game is a co-operative game with an element of a traitor. You and your fellow survivors have to stay alive throughout the winter without being eaten by zombies. Each player will control a group of survivors. You will have to search different locations which will give you resources to help win the scenario, you might be unlucky though in your search and find some helpless survivors which will then increase the amount of food you will need each round.
Dead of Winter is a good game with great components, great theme and is fun to play. It is a 2-5 player and there are expansions called Dead of Winter: The Long Night and Warring Colonies.
Betrayal at House on the Hill
This is also a co-operative game with a twist, no one knows who the betrayer is until later in the game. This game has tiles that go together to form a house made up of three floors. You have to go through this haunted house revealing rooms and encountering spirits and omens.
Betrayal at House on the Hill is a fun game, where anything can happen. It is a 3-6 player game that only takes about an hour that is sure to please most. There is also an expansion called Widows Walk.
Mysterium
This is one of our favorite games as it’s easy for new people to pick up. One player plays the ghost while the other players play the psychics. The ghost is trying to tell who among you killed them but they are not allowed to speak, all they can do is hand over cards with obscure pictures on them in the hopes to help the psychics choose their items. Each player has to guess there own card to advance closer and receive their next item.
If all the players reach the top, the ghost will then try to tell you who the killer is, after which everyone will vote and a majority will decide. The players will either win together or lose together. The cards used in a similar to Dixit and make trying to decipher what the ghost is saying interesting but everyone will be laughing trying to guess right. This game is different every time you play it so we never get bored playing it. This is a 2-7 player that will ensure everyone a good time.
