Music festivals are fun, right? Of course they are. I mean, I don’t know that for definite, because I’ve never actually been, but I love me a bit of music. I’m sure I’d enjoy a festival, other than the crowds of sweaty people wherever you turn. And there’s usually mud, that’s not for me. And the longer ones you have to camp at. Can’t see the point in camping. And the food is bound to be overpriced. Tickets are expensive too these days. Basically, if I was organising a festival I’d have it on that stretch of field over the street, so that I can stay at my house, wake up in my bed, eat my own food, then hang out the window to enjoy the music, that’d be ideal, thanks. As long as you all go away again when I’ve had enough.
Never mind my fun loving ways, what kind of festival would you organise? Let’s find out in Fest Season from Green Astra Games.
Fest Season is a euro-style tabletop game for 1-5 players (we get a solo mode!) and clocking in at around 20 minutes per player, where your goal is to become the most successful organizer of musical festivals. During the game, you'll take action to earn money, increase attendance, and secure sponsorships. Manage your resources, make smart decisions, and become the organiser of the most successful festival of the year. Remember, music fans want to see their favourite bands and have an unforgettable weekend, and it’s up to you to see who will build the greatest music festival!
The gameplay will cover all aspects of arranging a music festival. You'll want to hire the most acclaimed bands, they will want to play on an amazing stage which you will have to build, you'll install exciting attractions, and offer a wide variety of food and drink for your attendees. You'll organise sponsors to generate further revenue, you'll choose the most effective layout for your stages and attractions, and don't forget all the basic amenities that a large gathering of people will require.
You can hire bands from different genres, so you really can make this festival something you'd want to buy hideously expensive tickets for in real life. From rock to pop, electronic to hip-hop, choose the music that'll get your audience jumping. What would I pick? A proper pick and mix of The Paper Kites, Underworld, The Futureheads, Kahone Concept, that's some ideal listening there, my friends. In game there's 80 unique bands to choose from spread across eight genres. Speaking of numbers, there's also 80 different constructions available, 100 project cards, and a whole bunch of objectives - both public and private - so there's plenty of variety to keep you coming back for more.
Fest Season has hit the last week of its crowdfunding campaign, so head on over to Kickstarter and check out the fantastic player boards that are designed to resemble mixing decks.
