Fantasy Realms Deluxe Edition News

Fantasy Realms by Wizkids was a massive hit in 2019 spawning a great expansion and inspired several games that took the clever card play mechanism most notably Red Rising from Stonemaier Games.

Wizkids has now announced a new Deluxe Edition of Fantasy Realms is due to hit retail later this year. Along with all new artwork (from Anthony Cournoyer) and graphic design this deluxe edition includes:

  • The Cursed Hoard Expansion
  • The Jester and Phoenix cards which were previously only available as a promo
  • Sleeves to protect your cards

This edition is not compatible with the previously released versions but as the Deluxe edition includes all previously released content you will only need this version.

If you have not played this game before it is a set collection card game which can be played in less than 20 minutes. The original game had just 53 cards over 10 sets plus 1 wild set. The cards had various scoring and power opportunities when combined with other cards and could lead to some very high scores if you played well and luck was on your side.

This is a favourite game of mine with well over 300 plays and I will definitely be buying this on its release. The game is often cited as a 3 to 6 player game but there is a 2 player variant straight out of the box which works really well. The new artwork looks great and makes the game feel like a modern release.
