Emelda Braskov Warhammer Review

Emelda Braskov

Emelda Braskov is a noble women of the Braskov household, She was a commander of an army which was tasked to rid the chaos cult from Cor Mortifus. During a Necroquake the Vampiric tyrant Radukar slew the army of Ulfenkarn and left Emelda as the sole survivor, since then, she has a vendetta against Radukar.

So, I have chosen Emelda Braskov to review because this model brought me so much joy! Emelda is one of the heroes from the Warhammer Quest Cursed City box set. Warhammer Quest Cursed City is produced by Games Workshop and was released in 2021. Cursed city is a narrative based game where a group of heroes fight
through the many bosses and challenges of Ulfenkarn to liberate it from a vampiric tyrant Radukar. The box comes with 60 miniatures of which 8 are heroes, and out of all 60 miniatures, Esmerelda for me stood out the most. So below is my rating and I will go into further details further down..

  • I score my miniatures out of 5 using the following:
    Material quality - 5
  • Assembly - 5
  • Appearance balance - 4
  • Ease to paint - 4
  • Creativity - 5

Bonus: Rebuild/Repaintability - Yes

Emelda Braskov miniature is made of Polystyrene plastic and is a push fit model. When assembling Emelda, I found that I had no issues removing her from the sprue and assembling her. The push fit was perfect, maybe I got lucky? But there was no need for any filler, just a touch of Tamiya thin cement to seal the joining line (thats because im a bit fussy!) she would look fantastic without. My only niggle for the process would be the head, during assembly it needs putting in between chest and back and if not pre-painted first, it can cause some issues to get all around.

Emelda is highly detailed and yet simple, the gryphon on her back feathers are sturdy and well produced, they don't loose shape or detail in parts of the model. Her armour and her weapon are smooth and slick, there isn't any unnecessary overcrowding with decorations or extra parts that just become a nuisance. She has a stone attached to her foot for basing visuals to give it some uplift. All the areas were in a definitive area and had very little overlap. I was able to reach most places with ease, decipher what part was what and was able to enjoy every element, painting her was fantastic because of this.

The way she is designed too allows the imagination to be opened up with her, the armour could be painted any colour and it wouldn't matter, same with the gryphon even to her hair, you can let your imagination run wild. Pure creative joy.

To sum her up, If you get yourself a copy of cursed city or just wishing to have her as a model for D&D or just for the pure entertainment factor of painting, grab her! You won’t regret it! 90/100
