Archazia’s Island Illumineer’s Trove is an exciting new release for Disney Lorcana fans, offering a premium collector’s set packed with essential gameplay accessories and storage solutions! Each Lorcana set has come with an Illumineer’s Trove, and it is a perfect first product to open of the new set, as it comes with: Booster packs, a storage box, card dividers, and some general Lorcana playing products like dice and a lore counter.

Each trove comes with 8 booster packs of Archazia’s Island, which gives you 96 cards in total, and should give you a lot of exciting new cards from the new set. There is a very good chance of pulling at least one legendary card too; they are approximately 1:6 packs. The number of packs also makes it incredibly easy to split to play a ‘Pack Rush’ against a friend or partner opening it with you as you need two packs each. A pack rush is a super quick game where you blindly open 2 packs of cards to make a small 24 card deck, start with 2 ink from the art cards included in the packs, draw 5 cards, and play to whoever gets 15 lore. Simple! This is especially exciting if you have avoided the spoilers of what is in the set as I did, as it brings back the excitement of working out what cards work well with each other and what new characters and films they have added to the ever-expanding world of Lorcana.
When you first pull out the trove, you are greeted with the piercing green eyes of the mysterious owl living on Archazia’s Island; the story-telling and immersion of this new set is the best by far in my opinion. The trove itself is a storage box that can be used to store your spare Archazia’s island cards, or cards that are not in your decks. It can hold ~800 cards in total, 400 down each side, and can be divided easily into their colours with the amazingly designed card dividers. Ravensburger have recently started including card art on the card dividers and it is a game-changer! They look stunning, taking the art-work from new Archazia’s island cards that fit the ink-type, to make it easier to sort into their respective colours. My favourite is the Sapphire armoured Baymax, closely followed by Mushu, as this was how we discovered he was in the set!
Finally, we have the lore counter and dice both staples in the troves. This time the lore counter features the new character ‘Bolt’ with his steel-coiled leg, showcasing his dual-ink nature. The dice are less sparkly and colourful being white with green numbers, but they do fit the vibe of Archazia’s island and the numbers are very clear on the dice which have not always been the case.

Overall Thoughts
I think the trove is a regular new-set product for a reason, it includes everything you would want when a new set releases and is also a great new product for new players with the lore counter, dice and even a storage box. The RRP of £49.99 does seem a little steep as you would regularly pay £40 for 8 booster packs, and the extra’s may not seem to cover the extra £9.99, but for convenience and a beautiful box to store your cards, I think it is worth it! Could it also include an exclusive promo card like buying a booster box did for this set? Absolutely! And I also loved that the first few Illumineer’s Trove’s included a players guide with a checklist of all the cards included in the set so you could tick them off as you go. Small additions like this would improve what is already a great product.
