Compile Aux: 1 Expansion Review

Compile Aux: 1, the first expansion to Compile Main: 1, adds three new Protocols. You’ll need a Main box to play.

How To Play

There are no new rules here, just three Protocols and their accompanying Control card decks: Love, Hate and Apathy.

Love is about killing your opponent with kindness: get a random card from their hand in return for giving them a selected card from yours, or give them a card to draw two more.

Hate is about mutual destruction: delete cards from the play field, often yours as well as the opposition’s.

Apathy is about flipping cards face-down, and boosting their effectiveness.

Components

The expansion comes in a plastic “booster pack” envelope, and contains just 21 cards and a card-sized credits sheet. Layout and art quality are entirely consistent with Main 1.

Summary

There’s a fair amount of variation in the twelve Protocols of the Main 1 box, but adding three more opens up new options, especially if you’re using the box to play two games side by side.
