Disney Magical World 2 Review

DISNEY MAGICAL WORLD 2

Disney Magical World 2 for the Nintendo Switch is a fun life-simulation game where you can explore Disney-themed worlds, meet famous characters, and go on adventures. You create your own character and move to a town called Castletown filled with Disney magic.

You can do a lot of different activities like fishing, farming, crafting items, and decorating your home and café. There are also quests where you battle ghosts/monsters and collect resources. Each Disney world, like Frozen or The Little Mermaid, has its own unique storylines and resources that you can collect.

Making friends with Disney characters is a big part of the game. You can help them out, join in on parties, and even customise your character with Disney-themed outfits.

The game has bright and colourful graphics that capture the feel of Disney. Each world looks like it came straight from the films, with characters that are the same as in the movies. The visuals are not super realistic, but they are charming and full of Disney's signature style, making the game enjoyable to play and explore.

In short, Disney Magical World 2 is a delightful game for Disney fans who enjoy exploring, crafting, and interacting with their favourite Disney characters.

Graphics

The graphics in Disney Magical World 2 are bright, colourful, and full of charm, perfectly capturing the whimsical feel of Disney. The game’s art style is playful and appealing, with characters and environments that look like they’ve come straight out of a Disney movie.

Each character is recreated with their signature look, from Mickey Mouse's cheerful face to Ariel’s mermaid tail. The animations are smooth, making the characters feel alive as they interact with you and each other. The environments are equally impressive, with beautifully designed locations that reflect the different Disney worlds, like the Arendelle village from Frozen, or the sandy beach in Lilo and Stitch.

The graphics were an improvement on the first game, and I very much enjoyed that they added more of the Disney worlds to this one, although I would have preferred they didn’t repeat some of the worlds from the first game like Alice in Wonderland but I understand why they repeated Winnie the Pooh to allow you to have your own farm to grow crops.

Disneybounding and Cosplaying

Decorating in Disney Magical World 2 is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game, giving you lots of chances to be creative. The game offers a variety of furniture, decorations, and themes based on popular Disney movies, so you can design spaces that truly feel magical. Whether you want a cozy Winnie the Pooh honey themed room or a grand Frozen castle, the options make it easy to create what you imagine. You can find new items when going on episodes/quests or buying them and you can even craft items and clothing. You can decorate your own house or café using these items and can even select themes from your favourite films ranging from Lilo and Stitch to a Wreck it Ralph theme.

Decorating in the style of your favourite film can even invite Disney Characters to visit your café and react to your café (and you can even dance with your favourite characters!)

Disney Dreaming

There are a range of activities you can do in this game (most of the activities are the same as Disney Magical World 1) but have been improved on for example the fishing is more fun in this game. Instead of collecting pictures like you did in the first game, you collect puzzles and can get pieces of these puzzles through character interactions.

There is also the balls for all the different princesses you can do which is similar to the first game but the mechanics have been improved on and feels more fun in comparison to the first game which I found the balls to be stressful!

In Snow White’s world, you can also mine with the seven dwarf’s which allows you to buy unlockables in the magic shop (the shop also existed in the first game) and the mine minigame is a fun copy rhythm style where you copy the pattern the dwarf is mining to successfully complete it. They also refresh with time so you can mine multiple times a day and was super handy as you can use what you mine to finish the puzzles you collect.

The dream aspect was something I think children would prefer but I personally found them tedious, however unlocking the frames for the puzzles (which allows you to dream) can only be unlocked by decorating the café in the theme of that character and inviting them to the café. The dreams are lit up stages in the theme of your favourite Disney films and allow you to interact with the characters in fun activities for example in Winnie the Pooh’s dream, you can pin Eeyore’s tail on him or even hold a balloon and float!

Summary

The game's core appeal lies in its laid-back, family-friendly experience, making it suitable for younger players and Disney fans of all ages. The visuals are vibrant, the soundtrack is filled with familiar Disney tunes, and the gameplay is light and casual. However, some players may find the objectives repetitive, as much of the game revolves around completing fetch quests or simple tasks. I personally find the puzzle dreams tedious as I had to do them multiple times and they all felt quite similar (even though they were all different Disney film themes.)

Overall, Disney Magical World 2 is a magical, nostalgia-filled experience that's perfect for those who love Disney films and are looking for a relaxing and charming game.
