Epic Encounters Local Legends – Ghost Pirate Encounter Preparation:
Smell that fresh sea air, fish and chips and the smell of freshly fired gun powder! Gun powder? Hear the crashing waves on the creepy looking ship, creaking and not looking entirely solid underfoot. Guess we need our sea legs for this adventure and maybe some water wings just in case.
Ghost Pirate Encounter, designed to fit into the Local Legends Tavern Kit and DND 5th Edition compatible. This unit contains a full encounter booklet, one medium and three small unpainted miniatures and illustrated battle map. The unit is designed to be a flexible encounter and can be played as a standalone adventure, necessary element along the way, or a side quest in a campaign. The Games Master (GM) will need to have to assess the players levels and pitch the difficulty but reading the full encounter booklet rather than scanned over will give the depth of the scenario and characters to make it a truly Epic Encounter.
Epic Encounters Local Legends – Ghost Pirate Encounter at play:
Ghost Pirate Encounter. The game is designed as a drop in encounter for any games master role playing game, primarily for the Local legends Tavern Kit but also for a DND 5th Edition adventure, modification would be needed to any other role-playing system. The players play co-operatively unless you are a sneaky spy, to complete the scenario objective. The scenario is outlined to stop the Ghost Pirate from further abduction of the port’s patrons and residence, but a band of plucky adventurers could save the day, or they might of course signup on a one-way trip to their final destination, as it ain’t no pleasure cruise. The GM manages the encounter, so if it is too challenging the scenario can be adjusted e.g. the Ghost Pirate has to be stopped by brute force so maybe some extra muscle from port security would help tip the balance.
Booklets, Maps & Miniatures:
Ghost Pirate Encounter booklet contains, a detailed scenario and background of the Ghost Pirate and abilities and behaviour in battle or play, as well as the Ghost Pirate’s perspective on what it needs and what outcomes could be. The booklet provides guidance on difficulty, stats, and background from the Salt & Kraken. The battle map is beautifully illustrated and on decent quality paper but is only one sided and you will need to flatten it out and then rely on the Tavern Kit to provide a leading foreground map for the adventure. The Ghost Pirate and three sea spirits miniatures are included and are all unpainted and unprimed but are very nicely detailed. The pieces are one standard medium miniature and three small miniatures in size but is more generous compared to the Night Hag encounter.
‘I don’t like pirates, they can’t be trusted,’ said the white Wizard.
‘But he is a trapped soul we should help him.’ Replied the young Paladin.
‘that’s all very well me lad but how are we going to do that’ Replied the white Wizard.
‘We could keel haul it, or make it walk the plank.’ Said the young Paladin smiling.
‘As a Paladin you know better than that,’ the white Wizard replied crossly.
‘Aye, just trying to get into the spirit of things, and why you should ye have the monopoly on the bad puns.’ The young Paladin said in a terrible stereo typical pirate accent and a broadening smile evolving into a chuckle.
‘What’s next a Yo, Ho, Ho, and a bottle of rum, a treasure map with an X that marks the spot, or a hanging from the rigging, or a skewering with the cutlass.’ Said the white Wizard rolling his eyes.
‘Maybe a parrot and a wooden leg?’ The young paladin replied stifling a giggle.
‘MOCK ME NO FURTHER YOU BLAGGARD SEA DOGS, OR YOU WILL FEEL MY WRATH!’ Shrieked the Ghost Pirate.
…
‘You are becoming quite good at the 100-yard dash of late my lad,’ said a wheezing white Wizard.
‘Well…., we do seem…. to be getting plenty of practice of late…. But maybe we are not cut out for this lifestyle….’ Replied the young Paladin panting heavily.
Epic encounters have been written to be challenging and it is the duty of the GM to balance the adventure with the player ability and bringing in extra help to tip the balance is allowed as you are in charge right, but balancing is always the best way and letting in extra help or allow aid to come if needed.
