Description
Commands & Colors Napoleonics is a war game based on the Commands & Colors (C&C) game system designed by Richard Borg.
The system is recognisable for utilising battle dice and a shared deck of command cards. The battle dice enable combat to be resolved efficiently. The command cards form the game engine, driving movement and providing orders for Units. They also serve to create a fog of war effect which add to the realism. Games utilising the C&C system also have a game board that is a hex grid. This grid is divided into three sections: Left flank, Centre, and Right flank.
The Russian Army is the second expansion to the base game - which focuses on confrontations between Napoleons Forces and those of Great Britain. Showcasing engagements from Rolica in August 1808 to Waterloo in June 1815. A copy of Commands & Colors Napoleonics is required to play with this expansion.
This expansion includes 20 new scenarios highlighting engagements between the Russian and French armies. Scenarios range from the battle of Czarnowo (December 1806) to the battle of Craonne (March 1814).
Also included are:
15 double-sided terrain tiles
2 Player aids. 1 Russian national unit reference card, 1 French national unit reference card
220 wooden blocks. Green blocks represent Russian units, and Dark Blue blocks represent French units.
This expansion introduces a new game mechanic, specifically for the Russian Army: The pre-battle Mother Russia roll. When this mechanic is in effect, the Russian commander rolls dice equal to the number of commands cards in hand. Additional blocks are added to units, in accordance with the results rolled, bringing units up to 'paper strength'. This is representative of the Russian army's slow mobilization time, and the army committed to battle before units have reached full strength.
