Not enough Ink has been spent so far to describe the initial release of Disney Lorcana First Chapter. The launch events in August saw many new and experienced TGC players as well as a lot of collectors jumping straight on the new game disregarding the huge challenges to get enough stock to complete the collection. I know as I was one of them and I am still complaining for missing out to buy a full box when I could....
Now, not even a month since the release of the first set, the TGC community is getting super-excited again by the details just released on the Second Chapter, “Rise of the Flood born”. Basing on what has been shared so far, the new set will include 200 more cards featuring some new Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Tiana that will appear on cards for the first time. We also know that there will be cards featuring characters and songs from The Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Great Mouse Detective, Pinocchio, Zootopia and Raya and the Last Dragon. Some of these cards will include the new keyword “Resist” that will allow a character to reduce the damage they will take when challenged. This ability seems the exact opposite of “challenger” and it can open up the game to new and interesting combos and strategies.
Together with the new set of cards, Raise of the Floodborn will add new Deck Boxes, Two Starter decks (Amber-Sapphire featuring Queen Grimhilde and Gaston and Amethyst-Steel featuring Merlin and Tiana), Card sleeves and Playmats. I was particularly pleased to see the new card Winnie the Pooh, “Hunny Wizard” turned into a gorgeous playmat although I have to say that the other new playmat featuring the Beast looks incredible too.
Most important, Ravensburger will raise the temperature even further by releasing also a special set to celebrate the 100 years of Disney . This box named “Disney100 - Disney Lorcana collector’s set” will include 6 alternate art cards from Chapter one and two and four booster packs of Raise of the Floodborn. The best part is that each of the 6 cards featured in this set will have a satin holographic foil finish, and a Disney animator’s signature. I am pretty sure Disney100 will be on high demand by the collectors and I am really hoping everyone will be able to get their own copy .
If you are as excited as I am by all these previews, make sure you mark the 17th of November on your Calendar when all your local stores will have stock on pre-release. The larger distribution will get all products on the 1st of December. I wonder what I will have on my wish list for Santa this year......
