In this week's news; Bloodborne heads onto Kickstarter while God of War is also announced for a tabletop makeover, Castle Panic and Takenoko go BIG, Space Base gets some new content and Humble Bundle offer some attractive digital editions of games.
CMON reveal Bloodborne and God of War
Cool Mini or Not (CMON) have recently launched their Kickstarter (KS) for Bloodborne: The Board Game, raising over $1.5 million in just 48 hours. After the successful Card Game, they are hoping this new iteration of the popular PS4 game will be a big hit!
The game will see up to four players fighting their way through hordes of beasts, monsters and townsfolk to uncover the source of the madness that has consumed the town. It is going to be miniature heavy and the stretch goal system being used is fascinating, so do go and check it out.
CMON have also announced a card game based on God of War, another PS4 exclusive game. The game will allow players to take control of their favourite characters from the game and will see them battling to stop Ragnarok. There will be quests which need to be completed throughout as well as elements of deck building as well. This is scheduled for a Q3 release, however it has not been made clear if it will be going straight to retail or onto KS like Bloodborne.
Games are Getting Supersized
Castle Panic and Takenoko are getting the supersize treatment as “big” editions have both been announced. Takenoko Giant is currently on Kickstarter and backers can expect to receive new hand-painted figures of both the Gardener and the Panda, both being over 100mm tall. There will also be large bamboo pieces as well as a large wooden storage box and action markers, larger hex tiles, giant dice and giant linen objective cards. The scheduled delivery date for this edition is January 2020 and the KS is running till May 5.
Castle Panic is also getting a big box version however, rather than being a “giant” edition, it will instead be a complete box of the base game along with all expansions and additional promo cards. With a complete rewrite of the rules, Fireside Games have allowed everything to fit together seamlessly and players can enjoy everything Castle Panic has to offer, all in one box! Castle Panic Big Box Edition is expected to hit shelves in July.
Space Base gets Another Expansion
AEG have announced the second expansion for the popular dice-economic game Space Base, only a week after the release of the first expansion. Command Station will allow the player count to increase from five to seven, while also providing players a box to store all of the additional materials along with the base game and other expansion. You can expect this expansion to hit stores in August this year.
Humble Bundle have gone Board Game Mad!
While most of us will agree that analogue is far superior to digital, the former will always have its benefits, especially in terms of taking your favourite games with you when travelling for example.
