March flew by didn’t it! I sat down to write this news round-up trying to think of pancake jokes, but that was February. Then I tried to come up with some Easter jokes... but that’s happening in April. But then it dawned on me - Mother’s Day. Sadly none of my Mum jokes could be written here without adding an age restriction to the post. I could write about spring starting in March, but if I hear one more cliche involving “sprung” I’m going to lose my mind. So instead of any of that we’re going to jump straight into games and, luckily, there were a whole bunch of games released across the month with more on the way for April, so let’s get started.
I’m currently playing: On Switch I’ve gone back to Pikmin 3 in preparation for Pikmin 4. On PlayStation 5 I’m still enjoying Dead Space while the Resident Evil 4 REMake judges me from the shelf.
I’m currently hyped for: Advance Wars 1+2 and Pikmin 4 on Switch. While on PlayStation 5 Aliens: Dark Descent has grabbed my attention as has Street Fighter 6 after my girl Cammy got announced.
New Games
March started off with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and Metroid Prime Remaster (Switch). They were followed up by Little Witch Nobeta (Switch, PS4), void* tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2 (Switch, PS4), Train Life: A Railway Simulator - Orient Express Edition (Switch), Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters (PS4, PS5) and Tiny Troopers Global Ops (Switch). The second half of the month brought Eiyuden Chronicle Rising (PS4, PS5, Switch), Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix (Switch), WWE 2K23 (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S), Peppa Pig World Adventures (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S), Windstorm: An Unexpected Arrival (Switch, PS4). The end of the month saw the release of Resident Evil 4 REmake (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S), Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (Switch, PS4) and Mortal Shell Definitive Edition (PS4, PS5, Switch).
April is an odd duck for releases this year, with the month being like a barren wasteland until the 14th with the release of Cult of the Lamb (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S). On the 18th we get Minecraft Legends (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S) and God of Rock (PS4, Switch, Xbox Series X|S). From here it gets pretty Switch heavy, so Nintendo fans better get those wallets ready, the 20th see’s the release of Front Mission 1st (Switch) and Labyrinth of Zangetsu (Switch). The 21st will finally give us Advanced Wars 1+2 (Switch) and Prinny 1/2: Exploded and Reloaded (Switch). We’re also supposed to get Dead Island 2 on the same day (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) but... well, we’ll see. April will then see itself out with the hotly-anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5, Xbox Series X|S). But if you’re not a Star Wars fan, perhaps Horses or Go-karting chickens are? If so you’re in luck, on the same day we’re getting Crazy Chicken Kart 2 (Switch) and My Life: Riding Stables 3 (PS4, PS5, Switch).
Announcements
It’s been crazy here at Zatu. We’ve had an influx of new bloggers, which is allowing us to cover an even wider range of subjects at a faster pace. Which means there have been some videogame newsposts covering the important announcements as they happen. The announcement of LEGO 2k Drive was covered by Pete Earnshaw, Matthew Morgan covered the announcement of Cities Skylines 2. While Lauren Skinner hit a double whammy by covering the announcements of both Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi and the upcoming DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
A more skeptical or paranoid person may think that this means people are coming to usurp my throne, that I need to watch my back, that my enemies are at the gates, my kingdom of news is crumbling and my demise creeps ever closer with each passing second... luckily I’m not paranoid (sort of) and prefer to see it as a news team that can be assembled with the mere blow of a counch. And with that jolly note all that’s left to stay is “You stay classy gamers”. I’m Ron Burgundy? [Editor's note, noone will ever replace the wonderful Paul's throne].
Oh yeah, E3, the iconic games conference got cancelled. What do you mean you didn’t realise it was still a thing?! Go to your room and think about what you did.
And That’s, That
Let us know on Zatu’s social media what games you’ll be picking up this month and I’ll see you all again for an April round-up when I’ll be another year older and none the wiser.
